Battlefield 2 Booster Packs and Patch Update
    Community Bulletin – January 11, 2005

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to all of you.

Today we have some big announcements that we’re excited to share with you! First of all, news about 2 new booster packs that will expand the battlefields of Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2: Euro Force and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.

Euro Force will be released on February 8th and sees the introduction of the all-new European Army in 3 new maps. Each Euro soldier will come equipped with a new primary weapon, from the FNP90 to the Benelli Tactical Shotgun. There will also be 4 new vehicles, including the (in)famous Eurofighter.
The 3 maps are "Operation Smoke Screen", "The Great Wall of China and "Taraba Quarry". Click here to view screenshots from Battlefield 2: Euro Force.

Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps – "Midnight Sun", "Operation Harvest" and "Operation Road Rage" – but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.

Both packs will be available exclusively online at www.downloader.ea.com at £5.99.

As well as these booster packs, we are of course still utterly devoted to providing updates to Battlefield 2. We can’t say it enough; thank you all for your support and dedication! Update 1.2 is currently undergoing public beta testing and will be released very soon. As with the first list, this second list includes confirmed fixes only:

    - Server search filters now work properly
    - All mines (Claymore, Anti-vehicle, C4) can now be picked up by the same class that dropped it by using the "G" key.
    - Mines can no longer be destroyed with other explosives

    - Flash bang effect radius decreased
    - Added unlocks for Sniper and AT kits
    - Fixed a bug in terrain rendering with night vision, whereby terrain was still dark in dark areas.
    - Fixed a bug whereby mods that are not bf2 or not xpack permutate shaders every time a level is loaded.
    - Fixed a bug whereby non-xpack mods cannot use xpack shaders.
    - Fixed bug in TV guided missiles of Havoc helicopter
    - Bug in MP7 fire rate fixed. Ammo count increased and mag count and damage decreased
    - APC Update – "Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials". This fix was a miscommunication to the patch team. Chinese and MEC APC’s have been reverted and the LAV25 now no longer shoots through penetrable materials.
    - Vehicles no longer disappear when viewed from some vehicles with a HUD (e.g. Tanks).
    - Performance gain found in static mesh rendering.
    - Detonation radius from grenade launcher explosions has been reduced.
    - Grenade launcher projectiles now have a minimum time before arming.

This is a list of confirmed fixes only – we are still looking at others that we hope to be able to announce soon. As always, thanks for your support and keep talking – we’re listening.

Pinch mine while your at it. Rat Bastards.

Don't see anything about bunny hopping and dolphin diving, but I do see that noobtoobing will decrease. Damn, I've been using that one pretty heavily in CTF to counter the bunnies and dolphins 🙂

I'm going to steal this for the news page Duck if you don't mind.

The full list of confirmed changes does include nerfing the bunnies and dolphins - as well as the tubes, fixing the AA (believe that one when I shoot down a jet).

wonder what sort of a "performance gain" we'll be getting? Maybe it will fix the lag-o-rama that is warlord.

Overall the patch seems to fix a lot of things that have needed it for 7 months now. Maybe this is the turning point like the 1.3 patch in BF 42 (I think it was that one) and we will have a solid game. I still can't wait until we get some full mods out though.
  6. #6
Like to see the patch, hate the idea of the booster pack. And Atomm that is twice today you have gotten me with the I'm with stupid sign.
  7. #7
    Truth hurts?

Edit to give Bubba what he needs.

  8. #8
no it's nothing I didn't know before I just figured Atomm would be too nice to say it. I fully assumed it'd be you to do it to me.

    :wstupid:

    :]
  10. #10
I knew that sign was trouble when Raze picked it... :-)

In all honesty, this is almost a non-issue. I have no intention of buying either of these. I'm really disheartened at the way things have gone. Battlefield is not what it use to be....
  11. #11
lol... Duck, your pointing at bubba and your sig...
  12. #12
For some reason the phrase, "Stupid Is As Stupid Does!" comes to mind.....

    Or "Dumb and Dumber!"

    LOL!
  13. #13
What peeves me the most about the "Booster Pack" was that if I owned an XBox, I could get one for free. :ak: EA

    Just released.

Like the "custom game" screen as well. No more exiting to start mods!

Saw this today, sounds interesting. Whether it is interesting enough for folks to shell out more $$ or not remains to be seen.

Battlefield 2: Armored Fury will add three new maps, all set in the rural heartland of America where the US forces defend their homeland from Chinese and MEC forces. This Booster Pack will also introduce two new vehicle classes: Attack Jets with the ability to use rocket pods and cluster bombs, and agile Scout Choppers which will reveal nearby enemies. \"Midnight Sun\" takes place on the Alaskan border, where Chinese forces make landfall. \"Operation Harvest\" will take the player to the vast open plains of Pennsylvania where only the expert use of air and armor will assure victory. \"Operation Road Rage\" sees all-out tank warfare on the freeways of America.

eh.. .Unless there is an option to have the expansion itself without having to only use EA Downloader .. this is going to create problems for those of us who run LAN's.. There is always someone that brings a machine and has to reinstall their game to play with everyone else.. without an active internet connection on-site that is impossible to do with these expansions..

    To big to post....
Link to video of some of the fixes:
    http://www.unionen.se/pub/BF2se_-_1.2_alpha.rar

    Some interesting things they show:
The anti Dolphin - is that it takes ALLOT longer to go prone and get back up.

n00b tube (M203 et all) launcher rounds bounce and deflect off of hard objects, they show them bouncing 45deg off a wall to the objective.

And ONE stinger kills a copter now w00t!

The BF2 Armoured Fury coming out in March 28th will indeed be a wanted booster pack by a few of us old DC fans....

Included in the 2nd Booster will be the following planes:

    A10 Thunderbolt

    English Harrier Jet

    Mirage

    And last but not least....
    The Su-25 Frogfoot

Battlefield 2: Armored Fury will add three new maps, all set in the rural heartland of America where the US forces defend their homeland from Chinese and MEC forces. the vast open plains of Pennsylvania

Um WTF????? Is there a different Pennsylvania than the one I'm familiar with?

In Operation Smoke Screen, the MEC and EU battle over a bombed out oil refinery, where a thick cloud of smoke blankets the center of the map making it especially difficult for jets and helicopters to identify targets on the ground. Taraba Quarry is another MEC vs. EU battle, where the fighting is centered around an old dam and quarry site. With these two levels, we've tried to bring back the large scale open warfare that made Battlefield 1942 so popular, with lots of tanks and a variety of ground and air vehicles to choose from.

The Great Wall of China is an EU vs. Chinese battle, relying on ground combat to create good choke point fighting within an enclosed area of the Great Wall. This map has a great mix of vehicle and infantry action, with intense fighting both around and on top of the wall itself. The 16 player version of the Great Wall features an EU paradrop over the wall itself, and the firefights that ensue are just incredible!

Planet Battlefield: Will there be a new gameplay and forces introduced in this booster pack?

Tom Galt: The EU forces are introduced in this Booster Pack, but no new gameplay modes are planned.

Planet Battlefield: Will there be more ranks introduced? If so, can you please list a few.

Tom Galt: There are 10 new ranks being added, from Second Lieutenant all the way up the chain to General. However, these are being added in the next patch, not in the Booster Pack. So these new ranks will be available for free to all owners of BF2.

Planet Battlefield: Would this booster pack affect normal Battlefield 2 play? Such as having flashbangs, F2000 that was introduced with Special Forces.

Tom Galt: Booster Packs are content bundles only, they don't affect normal Battlefield 2 play. Installing a Booster Pack doesn't alter any existing Battlefield content, so owners of the Booster Pack can still play original Battlefield 2 and Special Forces maps online with players that don't purchase the Booster Packs. We're still working on patches for Battlefield 2, and any fixes or features that affect Battlefield gameplay as a whole are introduced in these, which users can still download free of charge.

Planet Battlefield: How big would is this booster pack?

Tom Galt: I believe the Booster Pack weighs in at around 300MB.

Planet Battlefield: Will we expect any weather environment improvements, such as rain, snow, etc?

Tom Galt: No new weather effects have been introduced, although the giant clouds of smoke in Operation Smoke Screen are really cool and have a big impact on the gameplay in the area.

Planet Battlefield: Can you tell us the exact price of the booster pack?

Tom Galt: I believe the Booster Packs are selling for U.S. $9.99

The A-10 is a big hook. I have always loved that plane although I can't fly for shit.

I think the Desert Conflict mod will have an A-10 when it comes out. PoE also I think has the A-10 but I am not sure.
