Take directly from a press release by Dice on 12-22:

The Battlefield 2 expansion pack planned to be launched during spring 2006 is now replaced by two booster packs. The change means slightly lower project revenues during the fourth quarter 2005 than during the third, due to a lower development budget. The anticipation though is that this will be compensated by higher royalty revenues during the first six month 2006.

The expansion packs in the Battlefield series have new maps, vehicles and weapons. Each Battlefield booster pack will have new but fewer maps, vehicles and weapons. Instead they are sold to a lower price: 9.99 USD. An expansion pack is usually sold at between 19.90 USD and 29.90 USD. Today at least two Battlefield 2 booster packs are planned for spring 2006.

I am not happy about these "Booster Packs" either. While the next patch "should" go a long way towards fixing many of my issues with BF2, some of this stuff is content should be released for FREE! I don't care about new weapons or vehicles, or armies, I just want some additional map variety. It irks me a lot that if I owned an XBox, I would get one of these for free, but not for PC 🙁

$5 says you still can't hit shit with the guns while moving, so what does it matter what kind of vehicle it is?

Unless everyone says "Sarge, you gotta have this it's da bomb" (yes, exactly like that), I likely won't shovel out my $$. With any luck some more mods will be out soon and we can entertain ourselves with them 🙂 In fact, I haven't hardly played nilla or SF in a while now as I have been pretty well occupied with the CTF mod.

Speaking of CTF. Have they released .2?

no, but they have tweaked the server settings for .1 and it is much better. The flag sticks around on the ground for a bit now and it follows the movement better. Played a bunch the last two nights on the TNT server and it has been "wicked" fun. eK clan and "unholy" clan guys seem to populate that server and so far they have been pretty cool to play with/against.
