BF2 Login Lockup?!?!!?!

Anyone else get locked up when trying to login to the account server? Know of a work around for it? I tried 5 times last night to log in to play, all 5 times it locked up and stoped responding, had to kill BF2 to get out of it!!!!!

I have locked up twice on the load screen, but never had an issue locking up on the account connection. In my case, when I click to activate the account, it sometimes takes a long time to connect to the account server and then it tries to load me into a server automatically but it returns a "server is full" message and kicks me to the multiplayer screen. very strange.

I don't know if this will work. It could just be me, but if I launch the game from the CD as autoplay, I get right in. If I do it from the shortcut, I lock up. Makes me wonder if there is some sort of CD Key detection system in the login that's hosed.

Doh! Someone of PBF pointed out that BF2 puts two shortcuts on your desktop by default. One starts the game, and the other is the "Play online now" shortcut which logs you in, then finds a server for you to join - hence the long "authentication" time. It is not truly logging you in that whole time, but also finding you a server (somehow).

I need to delete that shortcut as it is a Pain in the ass. Although if you could set it to join a particular server, then it would be useful.

Not being able to paly yet (Rat bastards) I don;t have the desk top icon, but can you alter the target like we do on VD_V and BF_1942?
