BF2 Name

Ok since EA (rat bastards) made it so you can't change your name, I sorta screwed myself out of |GRB|Bubba. I changed my name reluctantly to
|GRB|Bubb@. What is everyone else out there playing as?

somehow the same thing happened to me. It somehow sees |GRB|Sarge as being the same as GRB_Sarge. I used the latter because when I first signed up it wouldn't take |GRB| Sarge and I was thinking it was the | and the space that was causing the issue. So for now, I will be known as |GRB|S@rge in game.

I think that I saw somewhere that EA/DICE said that the name change issue would be something that would be addressed in a patch.

Keep in mind, TWL doesn't allow ascii characters in names.

That does suck though. I went with my GameSpy account, then added my GRB account as a second one.

We could always change the tag to ((GR))Atomm. :-)

I'll cross that bridge when I get there. May be that I have to have a different version for TWL.

I did the same thing as sarge. I couldn't get my gamespy to work with the demo. So I went with GRBBubba thinking it was the | that was causing trouble. Even worse I registered it to a quasi-non-existant email (I am not sure I remember the username though I admin the domain). I thought they would let us change it so I didn't worry about it. Since EA sees GRBBubba and |GRB|Bubba as the same I can't change or reregister with that name. I remember TWL not using Ascii, but I wasn't sure the @ would be considered with that since it's a keyboard key, and maybe they would change the rules give EA's rediculousness. In any case, When the time comes and if need be I will switch either back to Bubbaspanky or ((GR)).

I heard quite the opposite Sarge, I heard EA would not allow switching names ever. Rat Bastards!!!!

No worries. I have been bad about signing onto TS when playing. I will make sure to do that from now on. Nothing like rocking a pub server with buddies.

I had probs too and just went with straight EasyJesus, I'll change it if I can, not sure how to start a new account. So those lines ouside of the GRB are ascii? I just used lower case L's.

Open the Profile.con file with Notepad (By Rightmouse clicking "open with" then note pad.) after that you should see something like this.
LocalProfile.setName "LEAVE ALONE"
LocalProfile.setNick "CHANGE"
LocalProfile.setGamespyNick "CHANGE"
LocalProfile.setEmail "LEAVE ALONE"

Also, it appears | is some sort of break character. One guy figured out that if you put |CanceYourName, it will show up as YourName in orange.
