Ok, so I plopped down my 6.95 FilePlanet subscription and downloaded the BF2142 Beta. Installing it now. I wanted to see what it was like and I really wanted to get a feel for it before I write a review once it's released.
I hate the idea I had to pay to get this stupid thing, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.....
I shall await your first impressions patiently.
I played a couple of rounds. Here are my first impressions.
1. It feels too much like Starwars Battlefront to me. I played that game once and never played it again. I wasted my money on that one.
2. Titan mode is a blantant rip off of UT. You capture flags, which are really missle silo's. The missle's fire periodicly at the Titan ship. After a while, the shields come down and it can be boarded. Then you take down the core shields, then destroy the core. Once the ship is destroyed, the whole screen goes white. It's kind of annoying. Even though it is supposed to be a more focused game, it still feels like flag hopping.
3. No more ping numbers. Only Green, Yellow and Red. I want hard numbers, but that's just me. Some people may like colors.
I added a screenshot of my character. You'll notice 4 classes. Every single slot requires a rank and unlock. I am going to play it a few more times, but this is very different than the battlefield we know. As much as I want to like it, I am not sure just yet.
I figured I wanted to do this as well. I go to FP and no $6.95 anything. They offer 3 subscriptions, the first billed quarterly the last two annually. Also it says * Subscribing does not guarantee participation. So that is scaryâ¦.What is this the lottery?
So my questions to you are:
What subscription plan did you subscribe to?
Was it different than the 3 listed?
Did you just assume you would get the beta?
Did you have another route you used?
How big is the beta file size wise?
Do you have to log in to anything and get serials or anything else to set up the game?
If I "obtained" the beta elsewhere could I jump in it or does it need some type of authentication to PLAY the game?
Also can you take more screenshots of every class etc.. So we get a better idea of how many items we are talking about.
