BFV and choppyness?

    Well I only just know got around to patching BFV to 1.2 or whatever the last major upgrade was (not the gamespy exploit patch) and it seems that the game is incredibly choppy now. To the point it's not playable without being extremely annoying. Any clues as to the cause? My brother has just come back from the Air Force and he wanted to play it. Thanks!

    Always start with the video drivers. What type of card is it? Do you have the latest drivers.

    Definately start with the video drivers. If the standard drivers aren't working try an optimized set such as the Omega Drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net). Also, when you patched to the 1.2 it reset any of the .con file setting tweaks that you made to reduce lag before such as the soundbuffer size tweak and that sort of thing.

    I just got the ASUS Nvidia 6800 GT 128MB. What's weird as well is in Forgotten Hope I get the same sort of choppyness when I use the "periscope" view in tanks, but when I go to move around in the exterior cam or any other view in the tank its perfectly fine. Makes no sense. On top of this all I am getting a window when I go to shutdown that says something about my ShelliconHiddenWindow having to be "ended" the Tweak UI didnt fix that problem. I swear the problems that come out of changing Graphic Cards. I downloaded the 66.93 Driver update from Nvidia as well but no resolution of the problem still. I'll check out what that guide says.. thanks for the link & help!

    You might also check your other drivers for your system. Sometimes a chipset driver for your motherboard can get corrupted and cause issues, as can sound card drivers.

    Do you get the problem when you play the game at low resolutions?

    Another thing that just crossed my mind. Did you make any tweaks to your con files during the intial release? If so, the patches always overwrite them. This is from another post somewhere:

    Add the following to your Battlefield Vietnam/ Mods/ BF Vietnam/ Settings/default.con with a text editor:

    Game.soundbuffersize 400 (you can go higher with this if you want to play with it some),

    and to the videodefault.con in the same folder change "allowallrefreshrates" from 0 to 1

    Look over Sarges post and try this suggestion listed above. The answere is there somewhere. :-)
