BG42 Infantry Battles 2/11/05

We had an open night, so I thought what the heck. Let's do another BG42 night and focus on Ground Pounding. What maps can we play that will focus on infantry. They can have tanks, but not many and no planes.

Let's get a list together and see what we can come up with.

The Swamp - FOR SURE!

We can easily enough REMOVE equipment or change offensive equipment to transports only.

So don't be shy about which maps you would like to see as infantry.

I'll have a short list in a day or so Atomm.

And Swamp rifles only ruled last week!!!!

We don't have to go through all the trouble of doing a server side mod, but we can put together a list that fits this style of play. I don't want to make anyone work to hard on one night of fun.

But, it will be fun.....

I don't know how many infantry maps BG has. Lotso tank maps, but few infantry.

Stalingrad Winter is mostly infantry
Berlin Streets
The Swamp, of course

We could always run the BG interpretations of the Vanilla maps for a change of pace too 🙂

How 'bout we mix things up a bit with a short list of say 6-9 maps and play infantry map --->tank map----> plane map?

That would be worth the time modding.
A WWII dog fight map.

Plenty of flat maps to add planes to.

You could add some planes to Coral Sea or El Alemain or Gazala - that would be a fun one - dogfights through the canyons.

Pegasus bridge has gliders for the Brits to come in on. It's pretty sweet. THere are a couple of jeeps around and a kettengrad, but the rest is just infantry I think.

With that in mind I vote for Berlin

Bubba, there is Berlin and Berlin_Streets.
B_S (hehe) is the one with the 88's in the bunkers.
B is the tried and true BF1942.

Pegasus bridge is cool. Have not played it with a lot of people but looks like it would be fun.

As far as server side mods.
Gazal or El Al would be fun to mod for air combat.

Let me know if we want to try an altered air map for some friday night.

I am a fan of any map with the word "Berlin" in it. Alkthough I was talking abuot Berlin Streets. I love that map.

I miss El Al too, and Bocage CTF. I guess I just miss ctf

I think mixing the maps will defeat the point of the event. We seem to pick up casual players on the infantry maps, so I thought it was worth trying to play that style.

Here are the maps I came up with so far.

The Swamp
Berlin (vanilla)
Berlin Streets
Stalingrad (vanilla)
Omaha (vanilla)
Huertgen Forest

Huertgen forest has a crapload of tanks (including the superfast M18 Hellcat), but that is fine with me. Also has nebelwherfers (sp?) and looks to be pretty fun.

Throw in Pegasus bridge, puh-leese. The gliders really are fun once you figure them out a bit. That and they are nearly indestructable so landing isn't too complicated. Another one would be the Alps map which has a few tanks, but not a too many and they are pretty much limited to the roads.

Crap, I thought Huertgen was the same one from the Map Pack winners..... Ok, maybe that one needs to go. What else is a more infantry based map, with few vehicles.

Pegasus Bridge and the Alps - both new maps with 1.1 I believe are more infantry oriented. Other than that, I would have to load them up and look around.
