I am thinking of getting this. The multi player may be interesting.

It was way too arcady for me. There is a demo out, or at least there was.. it's one of those games that is scripted, plus if you hold the mouse button you will kill everything.
graphics are great, but game play lacked...
Demo didn't have multiplayer, though, maybe it's way different

I'd say it may be ok in SP, but MP, not so sure. At the moment we're abit swamped with new MP games.
Crysis demo is a must tho. It played very well on my old piece of crap. Can't wait for it to come out.

no worries just letting you knwo we did talk about it. I have spent alot of time talking to Sarge about it

I somehow missed the first part as it was just a casual mention. Sorry about that.
lexx wrote:
Yah it was very casual 🙂 I also heard about it at SnF's last week, and everyone there has about the same hardware I have... older than a year. I was shocked how well it run, and damn the SP really leaves you hanging.
Just grab it off of usenet. I also saw COD4 demo there yesterday as well.
13 days and counting ......
DocJon wrote:
Aren't the demos available anywhere else?
Why get things off Usenet you don't have to? It just opens you up to another trojan and virus to get into your system. I get stuff there, but only when I have to, and only if I REALLY have a need for the program.
lexx wrote:
I've not had any problems. Its up to 4x's faster, no logons, no damn waiting in lines with limited bandwidth, and just look for RE:'s associated with it. If there is a virus or trojan, there will a dozen Re:'s warning about it.

You could always start a new thread with the title, Crysis Demo Is Out, you know..... 😛
See, now we are talking about Crysis in a COD 4 thread, so it's going to get lost as well.... 🙁
About Multiplayer
no thanks....
As you gain levels, you'll earn access to new weapons, scopes, and perks. On top of this, you'll find dozens of challenges for each weapon, which open up further augmentation options...
All of this creates a robust challenge system that encourages gamers to keep COD4 in their system so they can continue to plug away online. It's like Pokemon with bloodsplatter -- gotta earn 'em all.
DocJon wrote:
Yeah, usually if it's there for a couple days and no warnings are up, it's OK. . .still, if I don't NEED to get it there, I try to avoid it. Just one more way to keep your system clean.

Just because you were malware-free all this year doesn't mean you'll be malware-free tomorrow.

Its just easier and FASTER, and alot more efficient for me since I only have 768k down. It also lets me circumvent fileshack sites which I abhor.
I just put an old Asus P4 in place an hour ago as a server just for newbin. I'll add your suggestions to it for sure. 99% of everything I get from usenet are tv shows anyways, and I doubt any company reps are going to infect their own demos.

I haven't had this much fun playing a FPS since Desert Combat and I actually enjoyed the single player which I never play. The graphics are incredible and the online play comes in multiple variations and was alot of fun last night. ITs kind of a cross between CS and Battlefield2 but that description doesn't do it justice.

The online experience is NOTHING like BF2 or ET|QW in my opinion.

All in all - if you have played ANY CoD online games in the past - this is the same play type / feel while it looks great there is no team / squad / group game play its run - run - run - die - run - die - die again - die some more - ru-die you get the idea.
The online experience is NOTHING like BF2 or ET|QW in my opinion.

Yeah COD has never impressed me, this one even less so
Have you guys tried Crysis? you should all try it. I like TF2 alot, but Crysis may be the game to replace BF2
RPS wrote:There are many good things about Call of Duty 4. This is the best. Throughout the game, you collect various pickups, in the guise of laptops containing enemy intel. Collect enough and you can unlock hugely silly cheat modes, such as grenades becoming cluster bombs or the colours being inverted (which is really not pretty).
The real prize is ragtime mode, which turns everything sepia, speeds the game up by 20%, mutes all the sound and then adds a frantic 1920s plinky-plonk piano soundtrack. Modern Warfare becomes Buster Keaton movie:

Hehe, thats the only thing I'd be looking for, run . shoot . die. 🙂
I'm such a loner. The only thing I look for in a game today is if its different than Bf2, not similar. There only seems to be one option for me anymore 🙂

This appears to be a run on topic.....
I know some of you have ET|QW - overall how is it?
I have a ball with the free demo - but how is the full game?

Can't say I wasn't warned.......the aimbotting and Chams (seeing through walls) hacks are all over the place. You can tell by the kill cams who's hacking and most of the replies when you call them out are ,"So, everones doing it." What a bummer, I had alot of fun with this game but its getting almost impossible to find a good server.
Sarge wrote:I'm hearing some very good things about the multiplayer for this. Many of the guys in =VF= and [CAT] are playing it a lot right now. I've also seen a few people who didn't like it at all. I wish there were a multiplayer demo to check it out..... 🙁
Atomm wrote:That's great info Strummer. How does the graphics compare to the original CoD games?
Sarge, FFoW is on the UT3 Engine. So, we don't have to put up with Quakers, just friends of Lexx. 😈
Strummer wrote:Ha. UT, Quake, its more-or-less the same pool of players, right?
Strummer wrote:I was a Mac gamer then!
lexx wrote:Think I'll be sticking with UT3 for a long time. I hung around all this time doing BF2 and just don't see TF2 filling in that void. Its cute and all, but the spawn times drive me nuts. With UT3 you can MOVE, its fast paced, its hard, its *FUN* as hell, and it looks better than anything else out, even Crysis. Damn shame I'm the only one here into it though 🙁
Silent Cold wrote:So my question is are you going to put in for that Physix card and get the amped up physic/game graphics that is available for UT3
lexx wrote:I don't have any plans for it at the moment. I want to see how its going to pan out. My hunch is it will fall on it ass like an expansion pack. It comes with a couple of UT levels, but f that, I'm already getting swamped with new maps and its only been out a couple of weeks.
It adds another hugh dimension to the game, but hell, the game really rocks now.
Atomm wrote:Hey Strummer,
I am a huge fan of the latest TO mod for UT2004. I loved playing it. In fact, I had not played CS until after playing TO and CS felt like a bad knock off to me. It was definitely an engine thing and a fun factor thing. I wonder if anyone still plays it.....
BTW, are you still involved in the BG mod?
