Cuting Load Screens From BF2

Here is a cool trick that will cut down the load time on the game.

Go to the \Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\Movies folder.
Make a backup and put it outside the game folder.
Delete all files except menu.bik, menu_loggedin.bik and noise.bik.

Or get a Gforce 4 and don't worry about it....

found another way to do this w/o deleting the vid files.

go to C:Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2modsbf2

you will find an init.con file that looks like this:

rem *** These should be noops in server & editor
bf2Engine.playMovie MoviesEA.bik 1
bf2Engine.playMovie Moviesdice.bik 1
bf2Engine.playMovie Movieslegal.bik 1

bf2Engine.playMovie Movieswelcome.bik 0

just rem out each line like this (or copy from here if you are lazy)

rem bf2Engine.playMovie MoviesEA.bik 1
rem bf2Engine.playMovie Moviesdice.bik 1
rem bf2Engine.playMovie Movieslegal.bik 1

you get a relatively long black screen if you do this (15-20 seconds maybe), but it should pop right to the account login without having to watch any of the intro stuff.

FYI I did Sarges suggestion and had some servers kick me saying they didn't allow plyaers with altered files.
