DayZ (ArmA 2 Mod)

So this mod just announced that they are going standalone. I had never heard of this game and it looks outstanding.

Basically a zombie survival game with RPG elements.

I really should get out from under my rock from time to time. Both look awesome.

Dayz looks like a lot of fun. I've been looking at it for a while but don't have Arma II or III, whichever is needed.

I have been wanting to get into DayZ for a while now... Just havent made the jump even though I keep watching videos for it.

Is WarZ what the DayZ modders are doing? Looks so as it pretty much is the same thing with the way they talk about it being a mmo and such...

dayz is a made for arma 2 and was playable first. Arma2 developers just gave the mod devs the right to build it as a stand alone game (similar to how counter strike came about)

warz is being developed by someone else and they say they had the idea first but were not able to put out the game since it was being built from scratch and not a mod. Warz developers have said they are taking some of the features from dayz and copying them, however the games should be fairly different in game play style. Warzhas said it will be a bit more quest driven than just purely survival.
