I picked up Diablo III....it is as awesome as I expected.
My battletag is: Hadaka#1383
The gameplay is exactly how I expected for a hack 'n' slash action RPG. The social integration from within game seems really nice to get multiplayer going.
The ingame auction house is a welcome addition to aRPG's.

Yeah I played I, then I played Titan Quest (old Diablo devs) then went on to torchlight, and now I am giving Diablo III a run and it is quite enjoyable. Just wish I knew more people that also had it so I could group up.
For those of you that don't already have me added from SC2, my battletag is Drix#1409
I have it. But Blizzard wasn't prepared for the server overload. It's down, and even if you're signed into battle.net, you cannot play single player right now. Lot of angry people. They projected restoration @ 1330 CDT (course their estimates were in PDT, I did the math). Another 5 minutes to that point. 🙁
I will say the game is almost exactly as I expected...which is a good thing. I can see some of the WoW design seeping into the game, but I don't think it is a bad thing.
The only thing that really sucks is the fact that it is both a single player and multiplayer game but, you have to log on to the servers to play single player, and you can't prevent friends from entering a single player game.
So if the login servers or any of the multiplayer aspects of the servers are down...you can't play the game at all. In the beginning this sucks with all the server outages, but as time moves forward this won't happen as often, but I think it was a poor decision to limit playing the game based on server status.
if anyone want to check this game out, ive got a few "guest passes" that came with the game. these passes are only good for the first boss, but youll have an idea if you like it, or not?
Duck wrote:No prob. Just tried to create a BattleNet account and it's down for maintenance.
bah
You can't play multiplayer with the guest account, found that out this weekend, but you pretty much have access to everything else in the game. Not sure if you can access the auction house or not.
And they are still working out the kinks with server issues, but they are starting to be fewer and fewer down times.
Blue has also posted their patch plans which looks to be really good. They definitely do a much better job at patching their game than DICE does with BF3.
Some notes on the upcoming patches:
Game Balance
More Game Balance
More Game Balance - They say they are really focused on making sure the classes are very balanced and that the skills are well balanced so there isn't an "ultimate" build that is required to finish Inferno
Inferno fixes - Basically reduce the "spikeness" of damage from mobs and make it more a consistent drain on life...right now there are a lot of 1 shot kills from random champions/bosses
Well I certainly am getting what I payed for in the free demo! HAHAH
No seriously the game is going on and on and on - not bad for a demo - still have not hit the boss fight that ends the demo - playing a Monk and taking my time turning over ever rock so to speak.
While still a game on rails not letting you do more than follow the path they give you to travel - it looks really nice I'm use to W A S D movement not hold mouse buttin down and follow the piper moment..... so I end up standing still in some fights... minor things. (Also wish I had the ability to rotate the camera angle)
Worth the $70 or so bucks - not to me..... eBay when it drops to $20 or so - yah I'll own the full version someday.
If your thinking of giving the demo a try - do it, 5G download (there about) and has kept me going for 2 days now... it IS good mindless fun.
havnt played the monk, only have a witch doctor at the moment, but alot of the times, i need to stand still.....holding shift will do this. if i was playing a barb, i dont think id use this at all.
it is a good looking game, if you can you tube some footage from act 3, in the towers i think, the big guys off to the side of the path are phenominal.
when im playing a game, this is it, with some BF3 when i need a break
Completedwith the monk - trying Witch Doctor, Wizard and Hunter all at the same time - need to remember the shift thing as they all are ranged and I keep running in to the mix -
I think I like the WD best of the three - those jars of spiders are novel and make ranged combat different when you spam spiders.
I will say it is a night and day difference for Dice vs Blizzard when it comes to patches...although Diablo III is not cross platform which I am sure is a major reason that Dice rarely patches BF3.
ive only been using the auction house for selling, but im going to have to use it for buying a few things.....i didnt want to do this, as it defeats the purpose of the game.....but i cant get past the first quest in act 3 NM......not even close, the first couple of minutes, and im toast, over and over.
i guess the auction house is a part of the game, maybe a bigger part than i figured.
Duck wrote:Apparently people who purchased it got a few free demo codes - which allow you to DL the full game but only let you play to the first boss.
Mike sent me one of his - not a bad game from what you get to see.
Hence the Diablo Starter Edition...
"This will be done via a Starter Edition of the game downloadable from Battle.net. For the first 30 days after Diablo 3's launch (tomorrow), the Starter Edition will only be accessible with a Guest Pass. These Guest Pass keys are contained within all boxed copies of Diablo 3."
Was wondering if it was any better than Torchlight or if it was similar in strain as Torchlight is the third game of the exact same kind that I have played... [graphics fishing questing action] with very little different. Though it stated it was a brand new game [groundbreaking]. Heck I think an HP game was the first time I played its ilk. Newage Diablo/Titan but at least those had different graphical themes. </ramble>

I also have a 30-something witch doc.
Anyone use the RMAH yet?
I just sold a unique item set belt for $35...I now have $28 after fees....other items haven't sold but I think I priced them too high. My goal now is to sell enough to pay for the game and next expansion.
The process was pretty flawless and easy. I couldn't believe someone paid $35 for 1 item.
