It's official, EA is the borg. It's probably shorter to list what they don't own now...I'm sure that they'll find a way to screw up the Grand Theft Auto series now as well.

Is Take Two really worth 2 Billion?

If there ever was a company that was bad for Gaming, it has to be EA. And to think, I use to Love EA back in the Day.....

Someone on Fark posted some interesting information. . .surely one of the signs of the coming apocalypse.

Reading about Take-Two, it becomes clear how poorly run they were. Their board was ousted, with chief executives falsifying business records.

Anti-EA arguments are mostly (but not completely) based on old information.

Did you know their new CEO used to be in charge of Bioware/Pandemic?

Did you know he basically apologized (new window) for what the company did to smaller companies in the past (including my personal favorite, Origin)?

Did you hear how Pandemic has been waiting for the other shoe to drop after they were bought by EA but nothing has happened?

Maybe we can hope some wisdom has found it's way into the upper ranks, and they realize slash & burn tactics are only profitable once, whereas ongoing game sales and development are profitable for a long time. It would be cool if they also started showing some pride in their work, and not screwing over their customers by releasing products that aren't finished for six months or more. . .you know, a big-picture view.

I think the new CEO John is the right guy for the job, but remember, the first time his idea's start to slide, the Board and the Stockholders may push him out. It's always a delicate balance with huge companies like that.

I do hope they do what they are saying because two of my favorite studios are recent EA acquisitions, Bioware and DICE.
