To be honest, I've always been a big RPG fan. BF42 sucked me away from Baldur's Gate 2 and I've been playing FPS's since, but I still have a love of CRPG's.
I've thought about checking it out again, but to be honest, I think I like the story aspect of single player RPG's any more.
I haven't really PLAYED an RPG since "The Bard's Tale", which was such a piece of crap, it killed RPGs for me. Maybe that was unfair, and maybe others are quite good and entertaining, but that game made it obvious to me what others hadn't until that point: There's just a little plot, padded and surrounded by random monster encounters. Most of the games consisted of moving a short distance, getting attacked by a monster, and repetitively pressing the "attack" key. There were options like cast a spell, use your bow, etc, but it all felt the same. . .
Throw in a ton of resource management/inventory swapping, and the occasional session of repeatedly pressing the "talk to random citizen" key, and I just felt like I was doing chores more than having fun. Worse, I had to level up, repeatedly fight things I really didn't give a tinker's damn about, just so that I could go other places without dying, so I could fight MORE things I didn't give a tinker's damn about, to level up again, so that I could finally uncover some piece of the plot. . .then do it some more.
So I guess the answer is "No, I didn't play the demo." 😀
