Do you have the latest version? The one that they released for the open beta a few days ago? I know that there are still some problems with older AMD systems and with older video cards that use shader 2.0 technology.
Yeah, I have the new version. But the same laptop with ATI Mobility X1600. I think it is my shader version although I have not looked it up. I just went out and bought COD4 to cure my need for a new game. (and dam I like it) Is FFW as good as expected? I can upgrade if I need to, but I have to many computers as it is.
I think your card is a shader 2.0 card although I haven't looked it up either.
Frontlines is a mixed bag at this point. It has some really good aspects but the fact that there are components still not implemented - such as the squad comms and "spotting" - make it tough to get much teamwork if you are not in TS or Vent with someone. The greatest innovation I think is that your kit and your "role" are treated separately which allows for some very effective combinations and means that you don't necessarily have to cripple yourself against one type of opponent to deal with another. Armor is very cool in the game and the weapons for the most part are pretty effective but not insta-kills.
It certainly needs more work, but is well on it's way to being an excellent game.
This is really strange. It is based on the Unreal 3 engine and there are several games that have been released on this platform. You would think the video card and cpu specific bugs would have been worked out already.

Some players are able to play the open beta with 2.0 cards, but a lot aren't. It's better with the open beta, but still not perfect. They say they are going to fix it, obviously because they'd lose a hell of a lot of potential sales $$ if they didn't.

That's a really good assesment. The squad interface has been a major gripe among beta testers so far. I hope they just aren't afraid of getting sued by DICE for implementing a squad-interface even remotely similar to BF2.
That's the key - making it similar and functional but not a clone. It's going to be a tough one to beat as imo the squad setup/commo rose in BF2 is a thing of beauty in terms of its simplicity.
See I hated the F keys - I don't want to take my fingers off the movement keys and the "Q" plus mouse movement works really well for that. I also could never remember the F key combinations except for like two or three things....
The F key! Hmm! We talking gaming or women. I personally love the F key. Lots of fun. When ya tap it just right you get bonuses. I'm currently ranked at Bareback Trooper, working my way up to Cannon Foder.
