A little msg about the free weekend trial of DOD that will start on July 7th. It might not be your usual cup of tea, but it's free, and of higher quality than some stuff we've played. We've been wanting to do something new, and this might fit the bill for next weekend. . .AND IT HAS NO EXPLOSIVE SHIT FALLING FROM THE SKY! ! ! ! !

Hopefully we'll learn more about how to DL/ install it as the time grows near. . .I suspect you'll need to DL the STEAM client. I wasn't wild about Steam when it first came out, but it has worked flawlessly for me. . .and of course when the free weekend is done, you uninstall it.

Ok, who do I have to beat around here to get a response?

I own DoD, didn't like it much, but I am sure it'd be more fun with the whole crew, so I am in

Who's your avatar? Is that Henry Rollins?

As for DOD, yeah, I highly anticipated the :Source version as I played the original a lot, but it didn't do much for me when it got here. Might be better now. . . patches, TONS of new maps. . .who knows? It'll kill a Friday night anyway.

So are we doing this on Friday night?

I've got to reinstall hl2 if so.

We played for like 5 minutes. You didn't miss much. I was a big DOD fan, but DOD:Source doesn't do it for me. The community sucks (smacktards are the rule, unlike the old days), the servers are full of weird sound FX like Homer Simpson samples and other silly shit, and the gameplay hasn't changed a whit since 2000, which doesn't cut it nowadays. The GFX are better, but that's it.

Paladin and I played some more Vanilla BF2 last night, had some good games. I'm no longer giving airpower any real thought. I'm treating it as the act of God it is. . .shit happens, I can't stop it, and then I respawn.
