Friday Night Fights

Well we over at iCe are really sad about GRB losing the BF2 server. Thanks to DICE's min player system our BF2 server went the way of the Dodo Bird. We still want to join in for Friday Night fights, so if anyone knows a good pub server tell us. I and others will try to jump into TS to see if we can go pub'in together 😀

Do you guys want to consider going halves on a server? We could all enjoy it and it would be affordable being only half price. We would get a nice TS server with it as well.

You guys all seem pretty cool and having a co-clan would benefit all of us. Have good guys/gals to game with.

If we get a 32 player server to start then each clan only has to pay for 16 slots. Even at $4/slot that is only $64/month US. Hell we could probably even go to 40 players easily @ 80$/month each.

If that is too much for you guys let me know what you could pitch in and I will look into what we can do. Maybe we could still pull it off.

Our TS Server went the way of our Game Server, but we'll have something up for Friday I'm sure. I won't be around on Friday night, but one thing we've done in the past is find an empty server playing a map that we wanted and got it started. With GRB and iCe combined, it ought to happen pretty fast.

I think Pals idea is a good one if you guys are interested. We may want to wait until after the holidays though. I know I won't be around quite as much until after Christmas. I'm not sure what others plans are.

1/2 of the 32 player server would be $48 a month. That would allow us to get it back up and running again.

Out of curiosity which hoster are you all going through, there are some really cheap ones out there, unsure of the quality of service.

Wow Atomm, $3/slot, good price. So we were paying $96/month then? hmmmmm
Maybe we can get some more members here to kick in a small amount. $10 from each member would be more than enough. I can do $10 for sure, $15 would be okay, and I could probably do $20/month if need be man. That is $5 per FnF 😉

Cold, there are some cheap servers and we had one or more. It was really bad. Bad lag, bad management, crashes and very unstable. You really do get what you pay for in a game server.

I really think we need a ranked server. Even if we do only really use it once a week, it brings a sense of completeness to the clan. It also allows us to have better games by getting ride of idiots.. no not you Bubba you can stay 😉

We've tried a few and it seems to me that many are real junk. Atomm will be able to answer better. I mean it honestly seems to me that there is not much in the way of a good stable bf2 ranked server.

At the end there, 32player was too big. It set empty 28/ 30 days. Thats why I wanted to try IO on it for a while. I dont' mind idling on it with a small city map, but a large airmap, forget it. It was a waste of idle startup time and $$$.

I was thinking about 20-24 for the current level of player activity. A serious clan should have at least one server running something however.

Hmmm... I will talk to the rest of the clan about 1/2 server. Its a good idea, we have 8 to 10 people playing weekends plus average of 4 to 5 players pub'in each night.

If we get that kind of numbers each night then we could just keep whichever server full, as long as it was low latency for all involved.

If you decide you want to do this, you can paypal to atomm (at) gamersradio.com. We would be happy to give a few of your guys ban/kick/map change rights, but full admin would be limited to just you. It keeps things from getting all messed up.

We would also start a new forum to allow everyone to discuss the server.

Would we really need a whole new forum for that?

I think he meant a forum subarea that would be visible to just GRB and iCe folks.
