Thanks Sarge. It's going to be available via Steam as well.

Will it be delayed on Steam by two weeks like the other non-Valve games?

Good question Atomm. I haven't seen any a release date for FFOW in steam yet. I checked Steam's website for Frontlines, and they only say Feb of 2008.

I've not been impressed by the beta. admittedly it's been 3 or so months since it was last installed on either of my systems, but it ran like s@#$ on my systems. I've not heard of any glaring improvements from anyone. If there have been someone please speak up. Otherwise I'll most likely skip this title when it releases.

They have optimized the game quite a bit and it runs a lot smoother on my machine now than earlier versions did.

That being said, there are some glaring shortcomings in the game which have me recommending that we hold off on purchasing it for now. Primarily there will be no VOIP in the initial release and we have not seen the "squad comms" at all in the beta which has me a bit nervous. The squad/orders interface as it exists is just awful but they have promised some changes between beta and the release version.

That also being said, I actually enjoy the game play. 😀

Yes there have been optimizations to the game engine since then. Just for comparison, COD4 is more taxing on my system than FFOW BETA was.

What Sarge pointed out regarding the abysmal squad interface and lack of VOIP are among the most common complaints by BETA testers to the FFOW devs. Apparently they don't have time to address this prior to release, but intend to with patches in the near future. That's probably another good reason to hold off and see how those patches work out.

Overall I've enjoyed the game immensely. I wish I could have played the BETA with clan mates and friends more often than I did, but it was fun when we did meet up. It's definitely a team-oriented game - pubbing solo definitely doesn't do it justice. I'm hoping my =VF= captains eventually decide to set up a FFOW server, but we'll have to see how things go.

I think it runs a lot better than it did before.

I'm with Sarge, I actually enjoyed playing the other day and if nothing Drix, the sniper rocks....
