I'm not sure how we missed this, but you can already buy the game on Steam.

THQ's Frontlines™: Fuel of War™ is now available on Steam.

Frontlines: Fuel of War is an open-world first-person shooter set in the next Great War. The battle for resources in the near future pushes the frontlines further than ever before, engaging you in open world combat that concentrates you and your friends on one united front. Choose a side and join your troops on the frontlines for an intense single player and multiplayer experience. Frontlines: Fuel of War supports up to 64 players via LAN or Internet for large scale wars utilizing shared targeting systems, squad-based VOIP, and more to promote teamwork.

Once they closed the beta, I kinda stopped paying attention.

Reviews on the game are placing it in the 4 out of 5 and 70-80 out of 100 category. I'm still waiting for a few critical things to be implemented via a patch before I even think of buying it.

They are making a deal with Punkbuster to get a handle on the hacking, cheating and exploiting. I haven't played it since the open beta, but word of mouth and forum feedback seems to point to a REALLY bad problem with cheaters. It's kind of a shame they didn't just delay the release before it was ready - 1st impressions for a new studio are far more important than making the deadline at all costs.

I'm holding off for a bit. Nobody I know is getting this soon, although most I know plan to get it eventually. We must be growing old, not being the enthusiastic early adopters we once were. 😀

I don't know anyone that got this game. It is disappointing that they've had such a rocky start. Some of the things that they should have though of ahead of time they didn't and that surprises me.
