I can not run BF2 on my GeForce4 TI4200. It goes to a black screen, then crashes back to desktop and closes. I am about to try it on my laptop. If that doesn't work, I quit.....
GeForce 4 No Go on BF2

#2 hmm I wouldn't think it'd run on a 4200.. that's just too old a card isnt it?
It may be time..

#4 I have not tried this yet Duck, but I plan on it. See if it will at least let you play the demo a little.
download http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
then download and extract http://mrbauer.net/files/dxtweaker.rar
run the dxtweaker and click new
point it at the bf2.exe
check the two shader boxes
apply -
#5 Thanks Atomm.
Still a NO-GO
Oh well, like I said, no biggie. I would like to play it, but I won't die if I don't get to anytime soon. I've got to much tied up in to my new guns to think about getting a new video card.
Christmas is comming... -
#6 This info is already 3 days old, and look at the Numbers of people who can not play the demo....
What will EA think about this??? -
#7 EA's pretty much said Screw you GEForce 4 series of graphics car owners.
Were not helping you, were not supporting you, and the thread for support of the GEForce 4 series of graphics cards will be locked, no further discussion will be entertained.

Thanks EA, show me more love.......
You rat bastards. -
#8 Hmm. runs great with my ATI mobile 9600? -
#9 heh.. really can't blame them.. I mean in order to reach the next level of gaming.. at some point you have to evolve the game engine and cater to the next gen.. or newest abilities useable out there .. Albeit it BF2 has made a tremendous leap.. and I am unsure if older cards have the ability just not supported..
Gotta love the ever changing.. leave 'em in dust attitude of the computer world 😛 -
#10 I have a ATI 9000 64 MB card and it runs fine, although I don't think it is suppose to. When I come out of the game VPU recovery comes up! -
#11 I had the same card as Hymen, and the claim was it wouldn't work. So it's good to hear ti does. -
#12 Everclear, I would agree, but Half Life 2 supports that card and it looks better too. World of Warcraft supports that card and it looks incredible.
It boils down to the fact that EA chose to support particular Direct X elements that the older cards could not support. Those elements are icing on the cake. EA chose the icing over the cake if you ask me.
Let's face it, the GeForce4 was one of the best cards produced and has a huge following. The only saving grace is the new 6600 is a great card and fairly reasonably priced. But, then you have people like me that have the money to buy the game, but not the Video Card and Power Supply upgrade required to run it.
Guess it's time to sell my Playstation 2..... -
#13 No Atomm, it's not - Guess it's time to sell my Playstation 2.....
It's time to switch to the PS2 or the PSP
Rat bastards. -
#14 LOL Like my new sig I found.....
Apparently others feel the same.

#18 Does someone have a video card they can give Duck? -
#19 Possibly at the end of the month. All my Hard work on my house is paying off.
Paid 145k just appraised at 260k.
cost was probably 20k and 3 yrs. of off and on remodeling. -
#20 nice work Hymen! I'm in a very similar situation (minus the vid card to give). -
#21 Yeah sux, I ebayed my ATI 9000 like a week ago. I would have given it to Duck -
#22 Gawsh, then I would not have anything to bish about.
Well, there always is Bubba..... . . . . . .
