#4 HEYYYYY Dusk till dawn shouldnt be there!!!! I dunno how that even got on the ftp. That is the original version of Assault Island.
I hope its not to late to pull it from the installer.
If it is, just leave it off the server, and if anyone asks, will just tell them.
Then they can load up a local server later on and get to see AI before it got Customized out the a$$.

#10 BoB Ross
(October 29, 1942 - July 4, 1995) was a grandmaster American oil painter who primarily practiced the finer, more respectable arts of relaxation and kindness. His quiet, nurturing disposition was a form of therapy to the weary, and the reassuring intonations of his gentle voice hypnotized entire generations of would-be illustrators into creating a million-dollar art supply store enterprise.
Thread got sidetracked a bit didnt it? lol
Friday Night Imma be paiting Happy little Trees with my enemies BLOOD!!!!!! MWAhahAHaHAHAhaha  -

Lou in one post you go from an obit of Bob Ross and his "quiet, nurturing disposition" to "painting happ little trees with my enemies blood" that is nothing less than disturbed. -
#15 Bob would be proud. -
#16 I believe he was a vietnam or korean vet -
#17 Hey, Bad news again. You gotta pull Sacred Grounds as well.
Forgot that in an EA patch, it totaly fubared that map. The helos dont fly high. And your stuck where you spawn and cant leave. Sux, but at least Scott remembered before we served it up. -
#18 Damn, I really wanted to play that map. 🙁 -
#19 I am going to get the maps into rotation right now. Looks like we might have a good one on our hands.... -
#20 ok, drop Sacred Grounds and Dusk Till Dawn if I put it in there. -
#21 he he he.... -
#22 Wow, I didnt think that version had custom textures. Playing that map, is gonna suck at first, when it reminds me of the newer version lost on my broken 20 gig.
But I still cant wait!!! -
#23 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I have them and have played them "off line" But I may need to help someone this friday night.... I'm so bummed.
Great job guys. I really enjoyed looking around the maps. I also like some of the custom kits.
Really well done.
Hope to see you all tonight, if not we'll need to play them over again when I'm back.... -
#24 I ain't coming if I don't get to kill Duck! ;-) -

Moderators?.... hehehe.... -
#31 Yeah I have very little doubt in the abilities of the wonderful and all knowing moderators of this forum. In fact I would personally like to invite each and every moderator to.............. [/ suckup] -
#32 I don't have a new video card for you bubba, sorry :| -
#33 And I'm hiding mine when I get it..... -
#34 Homer is away on a vacation, so it doesn't look like our event will be posted on the PBF News page. I will drop the info in the forums over there.
We are getting some love from the TWL Boards, as well as our friends at :iCe: and -=NC=- 🙂
I also emailed Bronx so hopefully he has let the folks over at VX9 know as well. -
#35 Sweet! Thanks Sarge. -
#36 Sadly i cannot make it tonight... well not sure. but almost 90% sure. i used up all my brownie points for this month and need to spend some time with the woman. on a short leash lately :< but as far as i know asylum should be joining in representing nc 🙂 -
#37 That's cool. Understand the "short leash" thing, although being a bit of a goth is yours physical as well as literal? (j/k)
Who knows, we may keep the maps up for a bit and try to play another night... -
#38 Bob was the Shiznitz! That dude could crank out paintings in no time! I remember the day Bob Ross Died... I shed a tear 🙁
Somehow I just know he's up there with Jimi Hendrix painting happy little trees with Jim Belushi... Oo let's add in a furry little critter too shall we?.. -
#39 Good games tonight.... bites that some of the maps were messed up. Really ticks me off about smokey falls. I'll be glad when BF2 comes. I don't think i'll crack open battlecraft Vietnam again. Just way too many problems with customs and bfv. Sorry... -
#40 fully understandable Raze. Maps that we could get running were a blast. Had a whole bunch of people at one point. Good stuff! -
#41 It was a Hell of a Lotta fun guys.
Sux the few maps were so screwy, but I guess BFV cant handle that much customization. I bet if you ran de-bugger on it, the prog. would explode.
All the other maps ran and played great (imo) and Im glad people could make it. Cant wait to do it again. -
#42 yeah we shoudl do another nigth with those maps, or maybe updated versions of those maps I know at least 2 or 3 maps you guys said that you had a newer version. The people that were on TS were all having a good time ti seems. -
#43 I was still planning on doing another BFV custom map night for non-GRB maps. We could thrown in Dusk to Dawn and if we can talk Raze into fixing Smokey Falls, we could include it too.
It looks like we had a great turn out. Thanks for promoting the event everyone. LoU, tell all the guys at BFA we were really glad they could make it.
Sorry about bailing on everyone. I've been having some abdomanil pains lately and I went to the doctor yesterday. She put me on some nasty ass antibiotics that made me nauseated. It is the worst tasting pill I have ever had to take and the after affect is all I can taste is metal. YUCK! I tried playing, but the dizziness factor was just too much handle. I'm bummed that I couldn't play. -
#44 yeah. same. wish i would of been able to stay around. showed up late then had to leave like right after i showed up. :< sorry and about the short leash thing. yes. i ment it physically and literaly 🙂 -
#45 Atomm wrote:if we can talk Raze into fixing Smokey Falls, we could include it too.
I think it has the bug breaky had with green river. I don't know if I have the patience to "redo" the map. I can't see what the problem is. Could the map have gotten corrupt on upload? -
#46 Good time and great maps. -
#47 OK, i pushed myself to open that BCV icon on my desktop and checked operation hanoi garden, and Smokey Falls Ghost in the Darkness seemed to run fine and so did guadal (minor lag glitch due to custom skins, but livable)
I found SEVERAL THINGS WRONG with OHG. I don't know what happened but let's just say I'm surprised it even loaded.
OHG Tracklist (Checked due to excessive lag)
1) Excessive Lag, unplayable.
2) Overgrowth was jacked
3) Skins didn't work
4) Load patch didn't work.
Things I found with OHG
1)Right off the bat I found that the map's RFA was also included INSIDE the map? !?!?!?!
2) Went to fix overgrowth and it dissappeared, I think I found a more serious problem.
3) init.con was the wrong version.
Other things... Aparently there is now a maximum length to the map name. grp_operation_hanoi_garden exceeds it by 2 characters, therfore breaking overgrowth and other various items. Also there is a maximum
character depth of folder structure, breaking 2 objects. Map is now named grb_hanoi_garden.
I am repackaging it, 95% of the lag is now gone. I don't know how gameplay will be effected.
Smokey Falls...
I can't find a single thing wrong?? I still wonder if the server has a different version from the mappack or possibly corrupt on server? -
#48 OK, i've confirmed it. smokey falls is DOA. It's got that problem where it won't load in a server environment just like breaky's map did. I'll have to probably completely recreate the map and I don't know if I'm up for that. -
#49 crud, yep, I just pulled in the heightmap and objects into a new map and my assumption is correct. Exact same thing. At this point I'll have to completely recreate smokey falls. -
#50 Man, that sucks. What about taking the previous version and redoing it? The one we tested. Is it ok? -
#51 Tried that. I make one change to that version or any version prior and the whole thing goes down the toilet. I even tried a new map and brought in the stuff, that was a mistake. I've retried it about 3 times unsuccessfully. At least we had some good high noon shootouts in the unbalanced version.
I'll save the idea and heightmap for BF2. :-(
