GRB Half Life 2 Giveaway

Ok, I had a little extra money in the hosting account, so I picked up a copy of HL2 as a giveaway for GRB's. I could make this a site prize, but you guys are the heart and soul of this website. As a thank you, I am going to send HL2 to one of the GRB's.

To make this fair, I have picked a number between 1 and 25. The person who gets closest without going over will be the winner. I'll give this one week for everyone to get a chance to guess. Contest ends August 4th at Midnight according to this board.

Well, before I tell you, I should say a few things.

I don't know whats scarier.

You would have almost believed he hacked my PM's because I sent the number 17 to myself as proof of the winning number. It's late and I'm too tired to chop up the picture. If you want proof, I'll do it tomorrow.

So, Congratulations Sarge!!!! I have it packed and ready to go. I even tried mailing it the other day, but after going to three post offices looking for an after hours self service package machine and only finding one that was out of order, I gave up. 🙂 I will do my best to get it in the mail tomorrow.

Congrats Sarge, there are some places that I get vertigo playing the game, and there are some spots that scare the heck out of me, but over all I'm playing more than BF2

Edit: Thanks Duck. I hope I don't get the vertigo problems but I am sure I will jump out of my chair a few times - I know I did when I played Doom earlier this year. From everything I've seen, it is a fun game.

And if it does make Sarge sick I am SURE he can find a good home for the game. Yup I am sure he wouldn't have to look far to find someone to take it. Not far at all from his office. You know out of his office 10 feet forward and look right. Not very far.

If it gives Duck vertigo, I may be in big, big trouble......

I found that if I run my speakers and not the head set that helps.

As strange as it sounds, don't watch the load screen when you start the game, it's real fuzzy and if you put a pen or some-other pointer on the monitor you realize the picture and the pointer are moving in random patterns.

The vehicles give me the greatest problems, the dynamics are screwy I have to play for 5 -15 min shut it off or pause it and do some real work, then play until I get the stage done.

Ravenhome is the worst (so far) for the fear, damn I still get freaked out on that map. I actually had an adrenalin dump 2x on that map, monster jumps - BAM - heart pounds, I pushed away from the PC (by feet and hands woooosh) blood went cold then I realized, dumb ass, it's a pc game.

So yah, it's a good game so far (better than road to hill30 (sorry Mike))

They do heights really really well. I'm not bothered by (in game) heights, but those that are will really get the shakes on some of the maps.

Actually once installed, I do not need the disks to play off line, don't remember if it checks the disk for online but you could check it out on your pc to see if you like it :wink:

You know in truth, between bf2 and UT, I don't have a whole lot more time for games.

I installed it Sat night and started playing Monday morning.
I completed the game today (Friday) I averaged 3-4 hours a day and only used the walkthru, not cheats or powerups.

Now I can start CounterStrike and DoD. I really got the game for DoD when it comes out. The graphics engine on this game will make a killer WWII mod.

DoD should be right around the corner.....

It's being reported as September 1 on the DOD forums.

The anniversary of the start of WWII, coincidentally.

And yeah holly shat, that level scared the crap outta me a few times. I posted about it here somewhere.

Yah Hyman, no alterations to the drivers or what not, I completed the game and have played CS a few times on line with no hickups or video trash, everything wiorks just fine.

If I can find some good mods, I'd probably play that allot more than BS2 ..... hmmm I think I have a new name for that game, BS2.... I like it.

It got here yesterday. Played through most of the first level so far (I think). Mucho thanks to Atomm. I also put the magnets to good use right away. 🙂
