I've been playing around with another map idea. Can you guess which 42 map I used to make this? I know it is kind of small so i included a second screenshot.
LOL, yeah. I've been playing with market garden. I imported not only the heightmap but the ground texture. That way I don't have to create no stinkin shadows.
I need to change out the bridges. The one you see, I am going to change out with the one that is in Hue?
OK, how does this sound. GRB Hanoi Garden? I've changed some stuff up and it kind of fits. I found a map on the internet that kinda matches the Market Garden Layout with Hanoi. 2 bridges with a temple in the back? What do you guys think? I'll try to post the up-to-date screenshots tomorrow in the custom map gallery.. I forgot them today. I may try from home but it may take a while. A few flag tweeks and I'll have it ready for testing. I need to try the copy level to trick on this map. It is very large and I changed nothing. Go figure.
Cool man... go for it... Copy level to... works by the way, I tried it last night. I had a 6mb map before unpacking the RFA, a 14mb map after the repacking, and it went back to 6 when I did Copy level to...
I don't typically unpack my maps unless I'm doing a big change. This is a 60mb map and I can only think of one reason why, but I'm going to give it a shot tonight anyway.
I always unpack mine and do all the sound editing and loadscreen stuff all at once with it. For some reason I don't trust BCV editing that stuff very well as it gets kinda screwy now and then.
I've got one screenshot up, I gave it a little TLC that I hope you guys like. It's not the best, but it gives an idea. I have 6megs of Before and after screenshots that you guys will enjoy. I'll post the rest from work tomorrow.
I am highly higly Impressed with this. I bet it was a bitch to stand at the xact spots for those awesome animations. Which, by the way, was a really cool way to show off the map.
Yeah thats something thats gonna generate some interest I think... Really good effect...
I've been working on a PBR combat based map |GRB| Green River. I like the way it's going so far. Later this week I'll put it up on the test server for you guys. I need a few ideas about vehicle balance and a few about structure placement as the map feels a little bare still.

LOL, Their not exact, but.... I have 2 different machines one runs BFV and the other BF42. I ran them at the same time. LOL... I could have taken a little more time and was exact, but what's the fun in that.
PS, I hope you don't mind me using your idea for the headruin torch. I thought that was cool.
I seen a few more items I want to "fix" on their placement and on the Axis side where the 2 tanks are at the farm, I want to add the 2nd tank "types" i haven't done that yet. I think it will be cool. So far, I have placed the most effort in this map in the manner of objects and placement. One interesting note, I believe 42 does a better job. Both the ground textures are the same. I pulled them from the 42 map and inserted them in the 'Nam map. Interesting how the same thing looks so different.
Hey, Im not sure how fimilar you are with adding custom objects. But Ive talked to some people who said its really easy, "for those of you who can do text stuff", but anyway. You can add any object or every object from BF 1942!!!!
It dosent have to be a Mod to have custom objects, which I think is awesome. So I thought you might wanna look into it since you got all the re-makes.
Im going to give it shot sometime in the future, I want the log and the single board from 42. Some pipe pieces would be sweet to.
I haven't tried any smaller objects but I have been trying to figure out the Aircraft carrier and other sea objects and the b17 for quiet some time now. I've had no luck. There was a great naval presence in vietnam and I was going to try and make a map based off that but.... When I heard that EA Canada was going to duplicate some of the 42 maps.... I think I will wait till then.
Oh man... that's awesome... is that the USN squadron with the big Jolly Roger on the tail? If so, I actually built an F4-F model with that same paint scheme. From your pic it looks like it because the band of black with yellow stars over the fuselage. Really nice, I was hoping someone would put in some USN F-4's instead of the vanilla looking USAF ones in game already.
We have a wiener....er Winner! Yeah, I've always been facinated with the Jolly Rogers since I saw the movie The Final Countdown.... with all the 14's were going to take down the Zero's at perl harbor. Back when we were heavy in BF42 I had an Idea for a map of a wrecked carrier and i was going to retexture those f4's to the jolly paintscheme but that never fell through. I got busy on other projects.
i kind of did in a round about way. I placed the coursair weapon kit on the F4 but I am limited on the placement. I ended up having to mount the bombs to the underside skin like the napalm. I wanted them on the missle posts but when I edit the weapons.con it crashes to desktop so I didn't want to risk it. Also I painted canon ports on the F4 nose in the appoximate location of the gunfire. I can move the object placement around on the F4, but I have to do it in sets. I can't break or alter the sets.
no, i extracted the f4 con file from the objects list and inserted it into my map with the settings I specified and had root/init.con call the new f4.con file. I also inserted the weapons.con to edit the bombs to be on the posts but that just caused a crash to desktop. so i'll live with the bombs under the belly. I put the missles back on the posts just for looks but they fired along with the canons... that was odd... =) My ultimate goal was to have the standard airforce F4 and my skinned F4 but I didn't seem to get something right. I even took the time to rename every stinkin file and edit every stinkin bit of text to those new files but was unsuccessful. I know it can be done. I may not have the "destructive knowledge" to do so.
