Anyone seen or heard of this game?

I have known about 38 Studios for a while. It started with Kurt Schilling a Boston Red Sox pitcher that was an avid WoW enthusiast. He started talking about his gaming company he started on TWiT.

The game looks pretty sweet, and the story should be pretty awesome with Todd McFarlane and R.A. Salvatore on the design team.

    OK -
They had him on the morning show today 02/07/12
Looked OK but hard to get a feel for as he couldn't play his own game. All thumbs and got his ass kicked over and over and .......

I went to the web site - but it was so laggy I couldn't see much most likely a bizillion other people who saw the morning news did the same thing.

Did book mark the page - did not know R.A. was part of it too.... interesting.

Sort of like saying E.F Hutton....

I saw R.A. Salvatore mention this on Reddit. I didn't know about Kurt. Very interesting.

There is a video for it, but youtube is sucking for me right now....

Looks like a single player game? Can't see anywhere that it states it one way or another. However, they are also working on an MMO set in the same universe.

Yeah, Kurt was talking about what he liked and didn't like about current MMO's (specifically WoW) on TWiT a long time ago. So he took his well earned pot of cash (from baseball) and turned it into a gaming company so he could develop a game with all the features he wanted in a MMO. One of the big ones he said was creating a completely user driven economy but also create a whole "trading" meta game that would be accessible through the web. Basically think an ingame Auction House but accessible outside of the game.

For new gaming companies this seems the way they are approaching MMO's. Torchlight is doing the same thing....they started with Mythos, decided an MMO would be a huge task for a small company so formed Runic Games which created Torchlight so they could tweak the combat system. Torchlight 2 is coming out soon so they can test their network code and get it optimized. They also did this to create the Universe for the end MMO product they hope to develop.

My guess is that this is what 38 Studios is doing...create an IP, build the combat system, release as a single player game introducing the Universe and tweaking combat, plus create a revenue stream...next they will add a multiplayer aspect (my personal speculation), followed by the MMO.

Man, living the dream. Played Baseball and WoW and made Millions. Retired from Baseball and created a Gaming Company. This guy won the life lottery for sure.

Its a good looking game, the demo I played was rife with bugs. Fall out of the world bugs, and the controls are a bit more tuned to the console than the pc. That being said, it was beautiful and I plan on getting it. The only reason I don't have it now is because I missed out on the pre-order bonus deals and am now waiting for some time to test to ensure I want on PC or PS3...

Didn't know about all the future plans, but did know about the storyline/world set based on R.A. works.
