New Patch No Workie

I installed the new patch and all my pings are 1000+ and game play is like a slide show. I un-installed and re-installed and the original version worked fine. Re-installed patch, same prob again.

McCafee firewall
router
z2 soundcard
2 gigs ram

Can't think of anything else.....
rebooted router and cable modem

I've read about one other kid having the same prob but he fixed it by rebooting the router......


any ideas?

Bubba said that there were like 20 threads on PlanetBattlefield about people having the same issue. You might try reinstalling your video card drivers after you install the patch. Run either the Catalyst 5.6's or the Omega based on the 5.6 drivers.

You don't have hyperthreading do you? That is rumored to screw things as well.

Reistalled drivers and installed patch in safe mode, no dice.

I've just reinstalled BF 2 again w/out the patch and there are still plenty of servers to play on so I'll hang w/ that till they figure it out. I've got the hyper threading but it didn't sem to be an issue until this patch. I'll check out the planet forums when I get into the office this afternoon

I have hyperthreading and had no issues. I will note my in game browser is somehow less effective than before they "fixed it".

Another thing that I saw was that some people were having to tell their firewalls to let BF2 through again after the patch.

No problems with mine.. Server list refreshes properly now.. though I did have an unexplained reboot at one point right in the middle of a game.. while I was a Blackhawk Pilot with a few crew... doh.. I can only picture the sight and the "wtf's" as it nosed into the sea... heh..

fire wall sounds like a good explaination.
Haven't tried patch yet but for HL2 I had to uninstall Catalyst and onlyinstall the driver nothing else. now it work great.

I disconnected my router and am going straight through modem and retold firewall to let BF@ through........working alot better but now I'm getting strange noises through my speakers...grrrrrrr

No problems here I'm happy to say!

EA has just posted something saying hold off on the 1.01 patch and are recommending reinstalling the game 🙁

Hotfix coming soon.

If you reinstall remember to make a copy of your profile first so you don't have to reset all of the controls.
