Quote on objective driven fighting versus conquest style fighting:

It’s really worth the effort though, as the benefits to gameplay are immense. As a player, you don’t disperse with your team across the map as you would do in flag-based capture-and-hold, finding yourself constantly hunting for someone to fight. Instead, in ETQW you head to the next objective where a front-line occurs naturally between the opposing teams. Even inexperienced players suddenly find themselves fighting as a coordinated team. It’s our belief that this coordinated team effort is much more satisfying than simply capturing flags.

Man, is that a dig at BF or what? hehe. I completely agree. I prefer push style fighting. It just seems to keep the action going.

Release date is slated for March 07. We are getting closer!!!!!

I have always loved PUSH style of play. it is by far my favorite.
That is one reason I really love assault for UT, it is a push.
They had that one push BF2 mod that was not that bad but it just sort of died. Even the CTF was fun in small doses. I think it would be much more fun if the server would have had more people on it.

AAS game mode anyone.. another benefit of a nice round of PR.

And they are supposed to be improving AAS for the .5 release so that it's not just a single point that can be attacked but multiple. This is the one issue with what has been put out as push style in the past. If you have a full 64 player server with equal teams and everyone is either attacking or defending the same point, the defenders will almost always win.

Push style has it's place, but I'd hate for it to be the only type, for exactly that reason. PUSH gets to be like Karkand at the Hotel flag, without the sneak around option. I LIKE the sneak around option!

Tis a shame they just couldn't add Push and CTF to the game as it stands.

I am looking forward to QW but having one alien side and one human may be a bit....weird... I will just have to see how they implement it. I am just scared as ID has a rep for making things sound awesome then falling a bit flat on delivery. Q3, Doom2 etc... The saving grace it is is not ID directly but a 3rd party developing it.

Lexx will never play it as UT07 will be out by then and when that happens he will basically be gone. 😉

Nahh, don't bet on that. I'm a team player for the most part. I'll log in afew QW hours if its any good at all. It will depend on the demo and the amount of players buying the game from here or my other UT mates. As far as o7' goes, its still vaporware until it gets here. I'm starting to wonder if it will be able to equal o4' as far as gametypes and players available, we've yet to see.

Last nite my damn truck broke down and by the time I got home it was after midnite, sry. But did get on for a couple of maps. I see the mod fragmented the team, sigh.

Yea, it would add new life to the game, just like CTF did when Conquest got old in BF42. We played CTF exclusively for nearly 9 months.

Doc, there still may be a sneak around option, but it's just that you sneak around and flank the same point the rest of the team is attacking too. We did that a lot last night and it was a lot of fun. Another sneak option for push is to send one squad to the next point after the one you are fighting for, then once you turn it, have them try to take it at almost the same time.

So, there will still be some sneak involved. It's just a different kind of sneak. ;-)

I think the thing I am excited about is the mapping tools. iD has always done a good job of releasing tools for the community to extend the game. I hope that happens here as well. Maybe we can actually get our FNF Custom Map nights back online.

I'm worried more about the gameplay in QW first. I hope they add some spice to movements and the weapons. Didn't much care for QuakeIII or IV, but we'll see.

Lexx you won't like it unless it involves a bunch of hoping around and bouncing off of walls. My guess is there will not be any IG either...

Hey, I like IG, its a nice equalizer. This could be why I suck at CS, no real jump/dodging in it. I get on and Sindy kills me like a dozen x's in a row. Now I know how you feel in UT 🙂

So when are more of you going to pay CS a revisit? That GT server is running full everynite I look.

btw, tonite I'm going to load a couple of ONS maps that are push type where the nodes are basically inline.

Really? Do me a favor. Run any of the game types I like first then I can just leave once IG and DM start. 😉
