Ok I'm here in the Forum about the Custom Maps?

    Here is the timeline of Custom maps as I've figured it already... I'd also like to add there is a map called "Giza" I think.. that despite it being terribly historically inaccurate.. it does have V3 Buzzbombs (complete with buzz noise) and even the Pyramids.. a fan map at any rate.

    With the Convention/LAN over here is the map list in chronological order.. these are all maps available for play as well as a few Forgotten Hope maps as well.. Maps in Italics are either approximations or assumptions of a battle that took place similar to what is featured in that map.. I highly recommend most of the custom maps shown... Asterix indicate strong recommendations for play..

    1940:

    Definately an impressive timeline. We have played a chunk of those maps, but certainly not all of them. Did you collect those as they came out?

    Man, I am speechless. That is an incredibly impressive list of maps and dates. I have checked out a lot of those maps, but I will make sure I look at the few with *'s that I have not seen. Keep in mind, the conversion team specificaly stated no maps from Mods. I really, really wanted Operation Barbarosa. Right now, it is up in the air on whether is it from a mod or not.

    I would like to add our own map to the list; Ghost Front - December 1944, based on the attacks in the Ardenne's, right before the Battle of the Bulge. This webpage was the inspiration for the map. http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/brochures/ardennes/aral.htm It is a long read, but it is really, really interesting.

    Corsica is another very interesting story. I did some research on it and it seems the first battles were the Free French (Vichy) fighting against the Italians. Then, the British and Americans joined forces to help the French against the Italians. When that happened, the Germans started reinforcing them. I think it would be great to use that map during a Road to Rome conversion with Free French or British against the Italians. Unfortunately, we do not have permission to do either expansion at this time. 🙁 If that changes before the customs are released, I will talk to the mapper about allowing us to make those changes.

    You will be happy to know that we think a lot a like. What you see in this map pack is only a partial list of the maps under consideration. With the exception of the two pacific maps, they are my A list maps. The B and C lists included several of the maps you have listed. I will try to find the few that I am missing and check them out. I expect to do the custom map night at least 1-2 more times to fit in all the maps.

    I noticed you mentioned two EA map winners, but refer to the newer version. Are these updates by the original authors? As a side project, I was thinking about contacting them for inclusion in the mod. This would bring a lot of customs into the mod and hopefully inject new life into WWII on BFV.

    Oh yea, Dambusters is already guarunteed a spot as long as I can get ahold of the mapper and secure permission to use it. :-)

    Where it says NOT contest winner.. that means that someone else has made a map of similiar title.. but a completely different map.. The new version of the Kasserine Pass for example that I found.. I believe.. it has altered physics to run somewhat like FH.. but it's playable with them on regular BF.. I can't say for sure though.. with all the custom maps for the most part we were going for a Tournament with not only new maps to play but maps that nobody had played on so it was something of a level playing field for all.. I can't tell you how many times a jeep I was driving nosed too hard into a deep trench on the other side of some hill because I had no clue it was there.. moments like that you don't experience often after playing a map more then once.. So I did a general check to make sure the maps loaded.. I could move about without a crash.. and a quick brief look if the layout and feel of the map looked good.. a majority of the maps I picked out not only had historical background (which was preferred) but custom skins built in.. or as with the Ruhr Valley map.. showed that the map maker went thru many hours of work to really create an effect.. Play Ruhr Valley.. you'll see what I mean.. So.. the Kasserine Pass & The Liberation of Nuenen are complete'y new maps

    I do not have links for all these maps as I prolly screened over 100 custom maps total before I hosted this LAN.. I am trying to find a moment where I can create a links page for them all but best I can say for now is..

    Very cool. Where is this LAN? If it's in the US, I may have to schedule some vacation time. :-)

    Ruhr Valley is in the first list and scheduled to be played tonight. I was really impressed by the level of detail as well.

    The LAN already took place Labor Day Weekend, 3 day event.. another is done around April.. It's a special Draft style tournament so it makes for interesting games/teams.. I wont be able to play tonight until after 11pm CEN so hopefully you'll all still be playing.

    Very cool. You do realize I meant link to the LAN, right? :-)

    I have about 3/4th of the maps already. I'll grab the rest and go through them. You will be happy to know some of the maps listed are already on the next event's list. That event will be held November 5th. The ones that I have not reviewed will be given an opportunity in a later event.
