Patch 1.3; what do you think of the new feature of :

Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.

This may be very cool or it may be serious abuse and pwning 😉

I think the game may just get a bit harder if they can just request tanks easily. On the other hand getting a damn jeep when you are really far from tuff would be cool...

    Good times..Good times.

I think it's going to unbalance the game a little more than before. I had no problem with this in BFV because it took skill and effort to airlift a vehicle by helo. But this sounds a little to convient.

Imagine this. Round starts. It's a map where the team doesn't start with Armour. EverClear spawns and first thing requests a tank. Before you know it, the whole map's been captured and the game ends.

I figure it is one more thing for commanders to just ignore. Now if they could drop a tank or an APC, that might be useful (although I bet it would catch a few AT rounds on the way down) but a HMMV is only useful when you are really far from stuff. When things are relatively close, I find it easier to approach on foot in most cases it is more stealthy.

We'll have to wait and see. I don't think they'll let you drop anything more powerful than a truck. . .I want to drop one on a building and kill some snipers!

i think it will work out for the better. im pretty sure u cant mass drop vehicles , it probably takes a long time to resupply it , kinda like a arty strike. But like DOC said , gotta wait and see. Is the patch out to DL?

Not yet.. They are just hyping it....

Doc, that's actually a pretty cool idea. I would probably add C4 and run it off the building as someone passed by. Now that's Jihad Jeeping! :-)

    Now that's an idea.

Will they fix the red/blue bug finally?? I think not.

If it didn't make the first list, then I wouldn't count on it....

No more leaving squads, rejoining them and spawning on the new squad leader?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?

The squad leader thing is a bit of a drag but it won't be the end of the world. You'd think in 'real life' if the squad leader was killed, the next highest ranking soldier would become the new squad leader anyway automatically but... as far as squad leaders leaving and rejoining the same squad then spawning on the new squad leader... is this an exploit??? To me this seems to be just the way the game is played. I suppose if you want to make it more 'realistic' you could have it so that when you get killed you leave the game never to return until you create a new player... NOW THAT IS REALISM!

Ah, it's a game much like a TV series and if EA wants to change the rules of reality, we as players/viewers/subscribers can either learn to adapt or simply move on. There are PLENTY of good games out there.

I plan to keep playing for now because it's still fun but I sincerely hope this doesn't end up like BFV... spawn, run, drive, whatever for 5 minutes until you reach the battle, then get killed and spawn again a friggin mile away from the battle then run, drive, whatever for 5 minutes until you get bored and stop playing. The AAA & HD folks that now comprise the SH=00=TERS quickly gave up on BFV due to all the time spent just trying to get to the action. Honestly it made the game REALLY boring.

Anyway, rotating squad leaders doesn't seem like an exploit to me... it's just the way the game is/was played.

As far as BF2142 goes... EA charges $10 for EuroForces but I bet they charge $60 for BF2142. Funny since it uses the same dang game engine. Basically we'll all be paying 5 times as much for a new map pack and new weapons. I hope at least they fix the current bugs in the 'new' game.

I'd like to see how a BF would work with a "lives" system.. People would play much differently and carefully then they do now.. the support class would actually serve more a purpose during infantry operations in laying down cover fire..

Personally, I am glad they are doing away with Squad Leader jumping. I think it distracts from the strategy aspect and creates a who can jump faster situation. In a sense, it dumbed down the importance of keeping the squad leader alive.

Now, the squad leader will go back to playing the role they were meant to play.
