Should have it installed and working by Monday (going to be a busy weekend)
Mike and Hadaka - is there a server "World" I need to start a toon on - if so where are you all at?
I am on
Waterson East server for the VANU. I don't mind trying a different faction with you guys on a different server.
Also FYI-
There are multiple comm channels...Proximity, Squad, Platoon & Outfit. Each one of these has its own key to activate (z = squad, numpad 4 = proximity, etc. I think the voice is actually one of the better ingame voice setups compared to a lot of games.
Sorry I wasn't around over Tday, I only got to play some on Tues and on Sunday since I was hosting Thanksgiving this year and decided to smoke the turkey.
I am still loving the game!!!! However it is one of the more "Expensive" F2P games and here is why:
All unlocks are character locked...meaning if you unlock camo, guns, upgrades etc they are locked to that specific character on that server...they are not account wide. I don't mind this as that is how most MMO games are anyways...the only difference is you can spend actual $$ to unlock it for the character. If you know this up front it isn't so bad.
Now the actual unlocks are pretty expensive...some of the higher end unlocks are 1000 Certs or 750 SC (750 SC = $7.50). I have a 60% increase in XP gain and 50% cert gain and I earn about 10k XP an hour, this equates to 40 Certs per hour...making unlocking 1 big unlock ~25 hours of gameplay. THIS IS EXPENSIVE!!!! FYI - 10k is an underestimate.
There are lots and lots of smaller unlocks...ie Health increase, gun attachments, utility items (grenades, C4, etc) that range from 1 - 200 certs.
I spent $72 for a 6 month subscription to the game, this is were the 50% bonus XP gain comes in. If you don't play with it you should be averaging 5k - 8k XP/hour.
So overall comparing PS2 F2P model to other games (SWTOR, Tribes, DDO,etc) the game is on the expensive side but only if you spend actual money on it. I know some players have already dropped $100+ on upgrades but these are usually PS vets and fanboys that will be playing the game for years.
