Gamestop is saying June. The appearance of the preorder kits gives us some assurance that we will see it soon. But either way, the preorder kit comes with the option to reserve your in game handle as well as the usual the poster, dvd case, and a couple of collectors cards.
Considering the preorder insures you get a game and goes toward the price of the game. Not a bad idea if you're like me and don't feel like being overly creative with your keyboard on game registration... a nightmare we've been fighting since about a week after the BF2 demo came out.
I know, not that big a deal, but some light at the end of that waiting tunnel we've all found ourselves in while waiting for this game's release.
Drix, do you know how they are handling clan tags? Do we need to register our name with our clan tag or can we add it on later?
FYI, for those of you interested in this, I am putting together an affiliate link for GameStop. We had $35 under their old affiliate system waiting to hit $50 for a check. They've switched affiliate companies, so I am not sure how this will work, but it might be worth it to give it a shot.

It's good to see things are starting to happen on the FPS front. Atomm, if it's not too inconvenient, you should slap those affiliate links everywhere applicable. Pin a short msg (this goes to help keep GRB & it servers running, blah blah blah) and link at the top of every related forum, throw it in whenever you see ppl talking about buying or pre-ordering a game. . .
Damn, could it be we're only a couple months from seeing some new games? 😀
The only thing that is keeping me from NOT wanting this is the fact that it is NOT done by ID. If ID produced this I am unsure I would really care about it.
Do not get me wrong, ID software has contributed some good technology. My problem is most of the Quake related games have been lacking to me. I did really enjoy Quake and Quake II but some of the multi player stuff was really so so.
I think the problem is simply that the Quake stuff was geared for a much younger shoot shoot arcade type user base.
I just hope that QW is not like this and encourages teamwork and is not riff with bunny hopping, exploiters and smacktards etc...

I tried registering my name, but I am not receiving the email response. 🙁
Thanks Lexx! You rock!
Sorry then. I thought what Atomm was offering was simply pre ordering the game to be shipped when it came out. I did not know that link actually sent you the pre order box with the name registration option. So then they send you the game as well when it comes out and apply the difference to the game price?
Anyway the $10 I just spent will apply to the game to it is a win win as long as I buy it.
Besides I wanted to snag Paladin ASAP so.... yes my name goes fast usually. It never used to but has the past few games. BF2. I did get it for 2142 by pre registering. I just have to take advantage of these things.

I doubt 'lexxisrockhard' will be taken by the time I get the package 😉
Do you guys all use photoshop as a defacto for the sig pics or is there another quick and dirty program thats around?
**NOT HIJACKING**
Yes photoshop is really the defacto standard these days. With that said though it is expensive. There is a PS elements version that is basically PS lite, it is cheaper and probably does most of what you need. You can really use any program that has the functions you need.
There are even a few really good Open source ones.... I forget the names but could find them if need be.
I use Photoshop. I am lucky that in my job I get free licenses for software since I have to install it on dozens of computers anyway 😉
I do not pay for my OS's or most major software packages. I also take advantage of student discounted software at times.

I'm using Photoshop, or I was. . .I've had a few "photoshop has experienced an error and must now close" errors recently, and as result I uninstalled it. I'll reinstall sometime this weekend. . .I dunno what was wrong with it, but I was losing too much work too often, so I hope the reinstall fixes it.
Some folks use GIMP as a freeware alternative to Photoshop.
Here's the template for GRB sigs. A lot of our Sigs have gone beyond this now, and no longer have the similar look they used to, but you may like it, and it has some stock gfx you can find use for.
I was thinking (I know, always a dangerous undertaking) we should have a public announcement for our Quake Wars intent. It seems as though only half the clan keeps up with our msg boards, and Varg is ALWAYS popping in on Friday Nights and having to DL something. We should have a short announcement posted prominently about our getting into Quake Wars, with the possibility that it may become a frequently-played, or even the most frequently-played, game for us.
I haven't heard from Sindy for ages. Fox isn't around much, I'll e-mail him about QW. (Agent Smith) MIS-TER AN-DER-SON (/Agent Smith) . . .hasn't been around much.
Mikey's so busy that he usually only pops up for FnF and doesn't know what we'll be playing. . .Paladin, you might want to give him a heads-up on the upcoming Quake Wars. Even if he doesn't want to, or can't, get in on it at the beginning, this is major enough that he should be aware of it.
Atomm, did you ever get that newsletter e-mailing idea off the ground? If so, the Quake Wars release seems like a perfect time to use it. You could send out a general info e-mail soon, consisting mainly of our public QW announcement, followed by a second mailing with more specific details when they become available (FNF, server details and address, TS info, etc).
Could we maybe start sending out an e-mail to members regarding all FNF, and any new patches for games we play? If need be, I'll do it, but I'll need everyone's e-mail. This might get a few more voices in TS if they're reminded of what we're doing, and kept abreast of what they need to DL. I know, they SHOULD read the forums, but if it helps the busier members, and brings back a few AWOLs, it would be worth it.
