    I just thought we might discuss it a bit more, you all said you talked about it before but not very much. Figured we could talk about it at okgg too but might get the old ball rolling before hand.

    I am kind of leaning towards the pvp side because it makes everything more interesting kind of like UO was back in the day. The fact that you had to worry about some PKs running around was fun. It made more hated rivialries and brought ppl to help each other more, so that we could be stronger than them. Granted there wasnt lvls in UO just skills but from what I could see you could always say something in the Local defense channel and say theres a whatever over here come gank them.

    The other reason, that i see no problem is if you get "ganked" you dont lose any of your equipment or experience, and its really not that expensive to do full repairs. Its just more of an inconvience, I suppose, and you can always get someone like Goose or me who will be playing the shit out of the game to come help =p. It looks like the land is big enough to avoid ppl if you really wanted too anyways. I just think its kind of silly to run into a night elf and not be able to attack them, whether they be higher or lower lvl than me.

    I know that in pvp you can get ganked, but that doesnt mean we can goto their side and gank them. =)

    Its just my thoughts critisize all you want, just thought it might be something that could be discussed a little more.

    Izzy and I had been talkin about this.

    I was worried about PvP cuz I will never be a damage dealer, but the no-XP, no-EQ loss is not a big deal. I musta died 10x last night in PvP and never even really noticed it. He's right about making it a little more fun, what with PK's running around here and there. I think I will change my mind on this. I wouldn't mind a PVP server.

    Based on what Breaky said, why not play on PVE server? After all, those of you who want to PVP (as prooved last night) can still do it and those of us who do not want to PVP have that luxury. Where as, if we play on a PVP server, there is no choice for the rest of us.

    I am not a power gamer. I don't play fast enough and personally, I hate all the crap involved with fighting other players, especially 13 year olds who are faster than I, but lack the ability to interact with other people normally. When you play on PVP server, you take away the enjoyment for the game for the more casual player.

    Think about it. I'm not saying no to PVP. I am saying yes to allowing each one of us to make that choice in the game as we see fit. PVE servers allow us to make that choice, PVP servers do not.

    The only thing is, given that last night was the last night of the beta, 75% of those ppl out fighting would never have thrown a /pvp tag up on a normal night. The PvP aspect is basically gonna be like a high lvl mob that just roams around. If it gets you, you dont lose anything and can tell the local defense ppl who want to PvP to come after it.

    On PvE if you want to fight someone, you can go outside their city and taunt ppl until they get about 20 ppl out there and put their tags on at once.

    [edit] I am now staying out of this issue... [/edit]

    There is supposed to be some sort of honor system also if you PvP ppl much lower than you. It's a PvP penalty of some kind. Not sure how it works tho.

    I'm fine with either way really. I didin't play much on PvP servers, but can you attack/be attacked by your own race, or set of races? Do they not have a Alliance Vs. Horde(or whatever it is) that you can rage war on the humans and stuck up night elves? But still be able to dig deep into your own lands to stay away from the wars front lines? That's what I thought we where doing on that RP server I was on during beta.

    And btw the RP server had very little RP thank gawd. I only saw one guy get pissed that someone was talking on the 'general' chan with out putt 'ooc' infront of his text. Thought it was kind of weird, but it was the first server I landed on with out lag.

    Is there a list of the 'rules' on the different types of servers some place?

    Found it:

    "There will be 2 server types available at release. The first is the "Normal" ruleset and allows only consentual PvP. The "Alliance Vs. Horde" server is a bit more PvP centric."

    "PvP on the AvH servers occurs much more frequently than on the normal servers. Zones on the AvH servers are labeled either Alliance / Horde Territority or Contested Territority. By default the opposing faction becomes attackable once they enter the other side's "Territority" while any players in their home territority are not attackable by the enemy unless their PvP switch is active."

    "Currently players lose prestige points for killing (ganking) lower level players. Eventually if enough prestige is lost, they will become KOS to their own faction and be attackable by everyone in game. Aside from trying to discourage low level ganking, there is no hardcoded level limit on PvP. Battlegrounds may have a hardcoded player limit, however they are not implemented yet and information is scarce."

    I think the AvH servers will offer abit of fun, IMO. You could be out running around and see a pack of Night Elves and call on your guild to team up and take'em out. Or call on the people in the area. Or just stay away and go on about your thing. I would like to see the lay out of the map. But I think the maps are big enough that it shouldn't be that hard to go on about your thing even if you do run into some of them.

    Do you think on the AvH servers what you said about death, in PvP, still holds izual? "you dont lose any of your equipment or experience"

    I know that you do not lose any exp or equipment...

    Here is something interesting from the FAQ Ice posted:

    Players on the "Alliance vs. Horde" servers will have to choose one faction per server.

    Ok, this isn't as bad as a full on PVP server. I can live with it if this is what everyone wants.

    Sounds fine to me... Just need to get everything set so when we start we can get everything in order with everyone... 🙂

    Sounds good to me! The PvP sounds alot more manageable than what I had originally thought, hence the change of heart.

    I had origninally wanted the AvH server but they didnt have any in the beta and not full PvP where anyone can gank anyone. So I only assumed that the pvp servers were the side vs side since the other other types they had were normal and roleplaying. I guess we just wre having some miss communication. =)

    Well, when I was on the PVP servers... When you went into a new realm, it told you who controled it... So it makes since 🙂

    Here is the information from worldofwarcraft.com

    PVP
    On the Horde vs. Alliance race war server, territories will be indicated whenever a player enters a new zone. The zone name will now include additional information to inform the player of the territory's status. Additionally, the mini-map will be color coded to indicate who controls the zone:

    Green = Friendly
    Red = Enemy
    Yellow = Contested

    Players will be able to initiate player vs. player combat based on what territory they are in:

    Players in friendly territories are safe unless they decide to engage an opposing faction player in combat.
    Players in enemy territories will always be at risk and can be attacked by all players that belong in the territory.
    All players can be attacked in neutral (contested) territories.

    Actions that enable a player for PvP status on the Horde vs. Alliance race war server are:
    Entering or being in an enemy territory
    Entering or being in a contested territory
    Attacking an NPC of the opposing faction
    Attacking another player
    Aiding a player engaged in PvP

    Players will also be able to enable PvP on their own by using the /pvp command. Once PvP has been enabled for a player, no matter what the method, it will remain in effect for five minutes.

    Yellow = Contested Meaning we can take over some/all territory's. That's would be really cool. Make it like there was a war going on. Or I wonder if they are yellow all the time.
