OK, I'm TRYING to like this, but so far, QW=meh. I'm gonna go in and turn down all the settings to low, so that I can play it without a slideshow. Next, I'll need to dig into the docs and learn me a game. I'm starting this thread to get discussion going, and maybe learn a few things this way as well. I'll start with a question of mine, but everyone please contribute any Q's you have, and throw in some info you don't think others are getting.

I'll start with the squads. Pal was forming a squad and inviting me, but I'm not sure how this had any benefit at all. What does forming a squad do for the squad members in this game?

That's something I haven't figured out either. We need to jump in our server with the bots and see if we can figure it out.

I wish that I had some input to add to this, but mostly I've only figured out what the engineer/constructor does. The stroog weapons frighten and confuse me.

I was talking to Bubba about the game the other day and I'm not sure that Valley was the best map for them to choose as a Demo. It plays out the same way every time due to the linear requirements. Can the GDF go out of order and hack the big pointy thing before they get the bridge constructed and before the stroog set up a crap load of defenses? It makes sense to me and is what I would do, but I'm not sure that the game allows that sort of deviation from the path in Valley or any other map. That, I think, is bad.

When in a squad you can as a squad leader you can point out objectives and tasks.. I have never been in a squad that actually did it unless I was a squad leader. So I don't know if you get any extra xp for it or not, or if you can spawn on it. When I was with Paladin he probably did not know how to make objectives or just was doing his thing. Other than that we need to try it out.

As far as linearity, it is what it is. Each spot has two-3 objectives to complete and multiple ways of ingress/egress. With one objective taking longer than the others. The trick is to get the important ones but not forget about the others that always help. Though I have already stated my worries about it, hopefully all the maps are well done and will play uniquely.

The biggest thing in this game to help out the 'fun' factor is getting that xp/skill points in the game. More weapons with your class and if you know the maps future objectives you can specialize in a class that will assist.
For example, the Valley - If you play as an engineer you will get the most xp/increases almost guaranteed as both sides need it the most. GDF also needs the Oppressor/Assault/Demo class to be upgrade as well though for the speedy demo planting and the CovertOps to get the hacking. We have almost always played as the Strogg.. who while a bit overpowered have a bit of a boring role sometimes. Though they do have that annoying as hell flying drone for their CovertOps.

We just need to have a nice little private session with enhance xp or something on the server if we can. Once the game starts running smooth on your machines it is quite beautiful and fun.

Please keep this on topic. Here is something I just read that I didn't know.

    Stroyent Allocation:
Strogg infantry have the unique ability to allocate their Stroyent supplies from their weapon to their health and vice versa [ - / + Default Keys]. This ability is extremely useful when you are about to die or when you are out of ammo. Keep in mind that you loose a fraction of Stroyent with every conversion.

I know we were talking about cvar tweaks somewhere.
So I did a search and found this website:
    http://cleandesperado.googlepages.com/home

There are preset settings including all defaults to choose from or make your own changes and test.
Ver 1.3.06 should work with the Demo.

Hope this helps video issues some are experiencing!
