Activision: Quake Wars coming in the third quarter
    by Cyril Kowaliski - 09:18 am, June 1, 2007

id Software and Splash Damage have been playing their cards relatively close to their chest with respect to the release schedule for their upcoming team-based multiplayer shooter Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. However, an announcement by the game's publisher, Activision, has shed some light on when folks can expect to get their hands on the game.

As Shacknews reports, Activision has revealed in its 2007 financial results announcement that it "would move the release of Enemy Territory™: Quake Wars into the second quarter." Activision's second fiscal quarter corresponds to the third calendar quarter, so that statement means Quake Wars could come out some time between July and September. That said, during a conference held after the financial announcement yesterday, Activision CFO Thomas TIppl reportedly stated, "id Software makes the final decision on the release date."

Yea, but that doesn't mean we can't gleem every last shred of evidence to try to figure out when that might be.... :-)

I really like the part where Activision says, ultimately it's iD's call. Could you imagine EA ever letting the developer make the call?

The only thing I figure is iD's warchest is big enough that they can pay for the development without support from the developer. That makes a huge difference in the patience level a developer has.
