If i go orc warrior then ill prolly do engineering and mining if ephil is gonna do blacksmithing, or first aid and some sort of gathering skill for money.
Alchemy and herbalism is a good one to do, i mean you can go wrong with someone who can make healing potions =).
I noticed a few of the professions say Secondary Profession. Does that mean you could take two primaries and a third secondary? Can you take more than one secondary?
I have primary (Enchanting) Secondary (Tailoring) And then a secondary skill ( First Aid ). I've wondering if I can take on more than one secondary skills, cooking or fishing, but I haven't tried yet. I just now learned on, http://www.thotbott.com/?t=Fishing that fishing can give you items, how does this work out?
And does anyone know of a better way to get 'good' items, items that have a green name. With enchanting you have to break those down to get your enchanting stuff. Right now I use tailoring to make robes, and then I break the robes down to get "Strange dust" and "magic", then use those to enchant stuff. It takes awhile, but seems to be working. Has anyone found a better way?
I'm still leaning towards an Orc Shaman or a Tauren/Orc Hunter. I'll narrow it down before release.
As for skills, I'll take up Herbalism and Alchemy for my skills if I take a hunter. I'll probably use fishing for fun. First Aid is pretty cool for non-healing classes. The only drawback is it can't be used very easily in battle. If you get hit, it stops working and you still have to wait 60 seconds before using it again. Potions on the other hand, work great in battle.
Izual, I read that fishing is different for each source of water. They suggested starting fishing at Newbieville because it would build up the fastest, then to test other water sources to see which one's worked the best. If it was a water source that was too high for you, expect to fail a lot and to not get anything. Once you get it high enough, you could pull out things like chests that require a thief or engineer to open. ephil, you are going to be very busy opening chests!
Thanks for the info Blue. That's really good to know.
Dude, I am sooooo looking forward to it! I have been hyping WoW for a couple years now and and happy that they are producing a product that is up to what I expected.
Blizzard has always rocked. I am really, really impressed. I can't believe how well they got the little things right. Character development has been fun. It doesn't seem like a grind that other games were. There are so many elements to developing a character. Yea, it's a bit complicated at first, but the way they do it is just awesome. I also want to write a review on character development alone. :-)
I still have a lot to see, but I love what I have seen so far.
I got into my first real group quest experience last night and it was a blast. I am totally gonna play Priest in this one. Even though I was the lowest guy in the group I got to help out saving Ephils ass a few times while letting Izual die. (oops).
Oh by the way, I'm gonna go Tailor as primary (Priest needs the cloth armor). If ICE can go Enchanter all the way that would be sweet! ICE can I convince you to do something else besides Tailoring as your secondary? That way I can get all the Linen from the guild. I'll have to grind alot of shit to get up to lvl 75 tailoring, so I can give all that to you instead of selling so you can do disenchantment on it.
The grouping system is nice, I think FFXI has a few little things that made group management a little easier, but they are far from being detrimental here. The amount of time sensitive buffs, etc and the power allowed them makes playing a healer class alot more fun and alot smarter. Before I would just spam cast heals on everyone and that was it. Now, if I see that a mob has switched from 1 tank to another, I can cast a temp shield on them that lasts a few seconds while I cast Regeneration on the other tank that was damaged. It's just a little cooler.
The crafting system is really really good. In SW-Galaxies, the crafting was really neat because the different stat resources you could use. In WoW, that seems to have been replaced by having someone Enchant it for you. This gives you the differences in your stuff compared to another crafter. It's not quite as customizeable as SWG, but the interface is so much slicker, that you don't even feel like your grinding stuff out. Plus if I want to make 20 units of something without a factory, I dont have to wait there and click the same 3 icons 20 times....
Breaky: "ICE can I convince you to do something else besides Tailoring as your secondary?"
Sounds fine with me as long as I can disenchant some stuff. Just finding stuff to disenchant isn't going to work I don't think. I'll need a good supply of things to be able to get the enchanting skill up to par, and keep everyone's armor to the specs they want it.
And mages also need cloth armor, so you'll have to keep me stocked with the good stuff if you can.
Any idea if we can swap items with people while they aren't online. Like put things into a guild bank account?
I dunno about guild banks, never been in a guild yet. I'd be suprised if there wasn't a way to do this though, most MMORPG's have that function. You need green lettered stuff right? I can make a few things already as a lvl 60 tailor that do that easy. I'll check out thottbot.com about disenchantment properties for stuff. And of course, I'd be supplying cloth stuff to you guys when needed as long as I can get resources from you.
Anyone playing today? I just found out the bosses are out of the office today and I have no appointments. I'm about to go fire up WoW.
You can mail items to other players... The Guild bank idea has been brought up in the WoW forums... But no action has been taken... So at this time, mail is your best option... We have used it a lot so far and have been pretty happy with it...
I might be on and off, but you guys are on a different server than any of my people. And yeah you can make a robe at lvl 30ish that is green lettered. It has to be at least green lettered, anything else is just that much better and gives more stuff.
heh... He made me a pretty red shirt that I am sporting... Course, when I was a tailor, I made Koleo a white dress and he liooked pretty nice in it.. 🙂
I will be the Tauren Shaman with Alchemy and herbalism as my 2 skills. I will also throw in fishing if they let me get away with it. I have found out that the Shaman once they get lvl'd up they are damn good.... and not too shabby in PVP either.
Goose, I tested that last night. I had Alchemey, Herbalism, Fishing and First Aid. I'll probably do that same set again. I think you can take cooking instead of first aid to compliment your Fishing.
Goose will need to update that for what he is going to be...
With goose, that is 7 people... It takes 10 sigs to start the guild... When I go in, I will be asking all of you for money... This money will be going to starting the guild... If we do not have the 10 sigs from our group, I will be asking for anyone ti sign it just to get it started... This is a normal action taken... People sign it, get it submitted and then leave... It is just a friendly way of helping people start their guild...
I think I helped create three guilds during the beta... If you choose to do this for someone before we have our guild setup... Remember the command to leave the guild it /gquit
Remember though... God may not need your money, but I will so I can start the guild... Go nuts doing anything you can to get money... Stand on the corner if you have to... But I recomend at least 50 copper for your services 🙂
My friend Blitz wants to join still, but doesn't know his class yet, cuz he didnt get into Beta.
I want to be an Undead Priest and I don't want to do enchanting if Ice is with us. Its too costly for both of us to do it at the same time. I'd rather give you all my crap I made from lvling tailor. As far as other skills I will have to just see what we need. My guess is we could use another Miner.
Breaky, do you think it'll be too costly after your skills are as high as they can get? I was just going to run Mining and Herbalism to make sure the guild always has money until your skills where as good as they could get. I don't know this is why I'm asking, but would one badass enchanter and another building enchanter be too much? I just thought it would make things alot smoother if we had two enchanters in the end, not to start with. But if you think it will cost too much nad hurt us, I can see that. And so I'll stay with Mining and Herbalism until the guild is able to make enough money on our own, and then maybe switch mining to alchemy or something, or leave it at mining as we'll just be that much richer of a guild. 🙂 But I'll have to be given stuff from everyone, such as armor, wands, and potions.
I just now looked at engineering for the first time on Thotbot. Does it really only have 3 lvl 1 items and then the next step is lvl 30?
I never got to play with engineering... 🙁 But I am also going to see if I can do herbalism as well due to Rogues creating potions... [wicked ones at that 🙂 ] So I will need to be able to stop and smell the roses every now and then as well...
Ahh Ice I wouldnt mind doing enchanting, but I should wait until you're higher lvl at least. Initially I will be able to create alot of disenchantable items and I'd rather us have a full blown enchanter to use them. If I am the enchanter then I will just recycle all my own stuff. I'm not really that crazy about enchanting too much, I can pick it up a good bit later if you want to start with it first.
The ball is in your hands Breaky. 🙂 I'm fine with mining and herbalism to make money and I'll just split it all up between everyone, you can mail money right? The thing I see being fun, for me, is getting us to be better as a guild than anyone else. So I don't really have a list of what I see as fun, other than what makes the group badass. So...tell me what you want and what you think I can do to help the group out, if you have any ideas. 🙂 And when I say switching to enchanting, I mean in like 6 months or more, not any time soon. I don't really see why we would split up the tailoring person and the enchanting person, so why don't you take those and I'll be the money guy for the guild. Can anyone else think of the best way to make cash? I was thinking herbalism and mining b/c that stuff is all over the place and it's easy/fast to get. And I think the two of those mean that I can also supply everyone with goods, other than skinning dead stuff.
Now that I've typed that and looked back at the list of people, BlueGuy is the only skinner. Maybe I should go skinner to help him out with goods for leather working, and then herbalism or mining for money.
That would be cool as a blacksmith uses leather as well as linen for different things...
Yes, we can mail money [I expect to see alot of it in my mailbox in the start of the game 🙂 ]. Also note, it wont be available at the start of retail, but we will have a guild house later on that we can store stuff in [from what has been posted everywhere...]
Ok Ice, that makes sense. I'll do enchanting and tailoring at the beginning. Everyone make sure to mail me any high quality drops that none of us can use. These are good for disenchanting and I can make additions to your best armor with them. Also, Ice and any other mages we have should come to me for armor after a bit.
