I decided to try to finish off my awards before making my next rank so I can get First Sargeant status.
We've talked about it before, but I could not hit crap with the sniper rifles in BF2. I grabbed the new sniper rifle, L96A2 (Sniper) Euro, on my last unlock. I must say, this thing rocks! Not only was I hitting people, but I was getting 1 shot kills to the head and even taking out guys on the run.
It's fairly loud and since it's bolt action, you have a fairly long pause after each shot, but if you like to snipe and think the other 2 rifles suck, give this a shot.
It really feels like a sniper rifle from BFV and I love it!!!!
Oh yea, I got my badge on the first map I played. That's how good it was. :-)
I think I used the SVD on Dalian to get my sniper badge. I usually cannot hit crap with the sniper rifles, but was on fire that night. I think ping comes into play moreso with sniping than with other weapons. My accuracy with the sniper rifle has increased dramatically since I got FIOS and my pings generally went down.
I just need my pistol and knife badges to be eligible for first Sargeant. Guess I need to try for them one of these nights. I just suck with the knife and pistol unless I catch someone unaware so I know I am going to die a lot 🙁
You know I've never known...what are the requirements for badges? Like ihave veteran command but none of the others and I play medic and spec ops all the time.
BF2S is the best place to find out what the medal requirements are in my opinion. Type your game nick into the box under "Get Stats" and it will show you what you have, as well as what the requirements are for all promotions, medals and badges in a mouseover balloon. It also tells you if you have met some of the requirements for a badge but not all.
BF2Tracker is another site, but it is less friendly for understanding what you need to do for particular badges and stuff.
Sarge, I can show you the way I managed to get both my Knife and my Pistol badges. The real key I found was to focus on it the whole match, especially on a map with a slow bleed and lots of snipers. From there, it's a matter of getting behind them and sneaking up on them.
Figuring out a good flag of contention with a good hiding spot also helps.
I earned my Knife on Sharqi. Especially the construction site. A lot of snipers will line up on the empty building towards the east of the flag. I had a few kills before then, but managed most of them in one swoop through that building. We had the ridge and they had the construction, so there was a lot of focus on those two flags. It was also easier to sneak in with more of my teammates rushing in.
I earned my pistol badge on Warlord. I found a great spot to lay in wait. People would go right past me, then stop. Gave me lots of opportunities to get the kill. I would be happy to show you or even work with you to get them.
The Vet knife badge is 7 kills in a round and 50 kills total. I think I have like 30 total kills so I'm not sure which I will hit first 🙂
Sharqui is definitely a good knifing map. I thought of also trying the big maps with few players just to have plenty of tickets to work with.
Knowing where that spot on warlord is would be great. I think I'll see how it goes trying to get the badges on my own before enlisting help 🙂 Unless you are volunteering to be a victim :swiss:
BTW, I went to bf2s.com. It was kind of cool to see what I had left to get some of my awards. I also found out I have my First Sargeant at my next Rank. I need 3 more medals to keep it at Master Gunnery Sargeant.
Some of those stats are depressing. Looking at the graphs over time, I have actually gotten worse at the game. The sad part is I checked all of them for something positives.... Didn't find it...
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Remember they are still tweaking the game and so just as you get used to something being a certain way, they change something a little and that impacts your scores sometimes + and sometimes - like the PKM changes in 1.2 and 1.22. Once things stabalize and they stop tweaking the game dynamics so much your scores will probably improve.
I noticed from BF2S that my score per minute improved on the day I got my FIOS connection. Dropping from an 80 ping to a 20-30 ping has a pretty big impact 🙂 It's not much of a change in raw numbers, but it looks impressive on the graph 🙂
Oh thats freaking depressing according to bfts my best weapon is .... hand grenade, followed by n00b tube..and im missing; engineer combat, engineer, ground defense, explosives, knife, pistolm resupply transport and chopper... I sux0r
One of the stats said I would accomplish the goal in 170,000+ days. You read that correct. In nearly 466 years, I will reach whatever goal they set for the badge. Talk about not having a life.......

I appreciate the help man. I hope I can do it when I am not so damn tired. I am always playing very tired and that simply does not help my game man. Of course being tired is just a way of life for me.. 🙁
Got 5 knife kills on Sharqui - Doc and Drix wouldn't stop shooting at me though so it made it kind of hard. I died a lot 🙁
Had a good run with the C4 on Mashtuur and thought I had clinched the 13 kills necessary for the explosives badge. I know that 13 people died when I used the explosives, but I think at least one must have been killed by the vehicle they were in. I actually didn't start out trying for that badge, but I got like 6-8 kills in the first flag rush and thought I had a pretty good chance to do it so I kept tossing c4. It would have been easier if the commander had decided to listen to my requests for ammo every once in a while (bastard).
It's hard going for some of these badges because it totally takes you out of the normal game play. I usually try to do what is neccessary to win the round, but having your knife or C4 out all of the time is not a good way to accomplish that at all :? .
