My personal feeling on BF2 is well... let's just say I could have spend $50 in much better ways.

I even bought the Special Force expansion pack as well, hoping it would help the terrible video lag that I get while playing. But alas, it was worse.

Lately our business has been requiring a lot more attention as we have grown very rapidly in the past 4 months. So I have little time to game anymore :ak:

    I second all the above.

I am glad to hear things are taking off. I understand about the gaming. It seems like the more I try to do around here, the less time I have for gaming. I still try to reserve Friday Nights if nothing else.

We might be able to help you with the video issues. What video card do you have? Raze and Sarge both did some major troubleshooting with BF2 and had some luck with improving things.

My major lag issue was with my sound card. also I turned off my page file. :armed:

I have an Nvidia 6600 (256 mb) if I remember correctly. I even upgraded from the ATI Radeon 9600 I had before.

After upgrading I noticed some improvement in the lag, but now I get all sorts lines through my display sometimes. Usually when I am in commander mode.

I have come to the realise that BF2 was never right to begin with. It is a great game, don't get me wrong. But after so many bugs, and so many problems with it I have lost interest for the most part.

I have been playing Counterstrike 1.6 when time permits. 0 problems, 0 lag, and all is good 🙂

I agree I did the same, BF2 just has lost it's luster. I tried the ex-pack despite swearing I wouldn't... it's just nnot fun for me anymore.

The type of gameplay that the game brings is excellent. It is one of the funnest games I have played, with the most advanced features as well.

But from the get go, it seemed to have large bugs and problems that I think should have been ironed out before it was released.

EA's area of failure is always in their timeframes. They are notorious for releasing half assed, buggy games simply due to a time restraint that they have set on marketing etc...

If they would stop this trend, and simply release the game when it is finished, and without major bugs, I for one would enjoy playing them more.

They should really think about performing public betas before releasing anything.

I agree and disagree. On one hand, EA does release things before they are ready. However, with BF2, they pushed it back about 6 months due to issues. That doesn't mean they did a good job, just that they showed more effort this time around. :-)

However, I believe the real problem is with DICE. Going back to Codename Eagle, all of their games have been notorious for having video "lag" issues. I believe they do not take the time to optimize their engine for net play. How many games have they released? Yet, SF has Polygon issues with some of the statics. There is no excuse for that, especially after the problems they had with Statics in BFV.

Some companies really take the time to perfect the net play, yet BF takes about 50k per client. With a full 40 player server, we were pushing around 7Mb of bandwidth. That's pretty amazing with you compare it to other FPS games.

I simply think they should test the game further before releasing it. They have a huge gaming community they could call upon to run test servers. Many clans/communities would gnaw off their right arm to get a chance to run test servers for them. I simply don't see why they don't do public beta testing before releasing a sub-par product, regardless who is at fault for vid lag or bugs.

I guess it all comes down to the fact that allmost everyone will buy the game regardless. I did. So I guess EA's marketing stategy worked!

However, I am sure you will all recall the terrible bugs in BFV when it first came out. There was the weapon switch bug that was so blantant that a 5 year old could have found it in about 1 minute. This makes me believe that they are more about getting the game out on schedule due to budgets, marketing etc..., than putting out a quality game from the start.

I guess all game makers are like this nowadays. Even Valve fubars their updates allmost everytime now.

Hi Guys. I got an email from Atomm saying a few of you could not get through to the TS server. I changed the IP to 69.9.44.124 to see if it would make a difference.

If you guys are still having problems reaching it, could one of you send me a tracert to the above IP?

    Thanks a bunch!
