While I was reading and watching this, all I could think of was wow, that's different. Wow, no one has ever done that. Wow....
100 Player servers with NPC's, Cops vs Robbers. One amazing part is if your gang of three is doing well, the game will escalate. If you take out another gang of three, it will send word to a gang of five. Take them out and it's send twelve, or two gangs of six....
If they pull this off and it's actually fun to play, then I would dare say this is a game changer for online gaming.
I only saw two drawbacks to this.
1. It's an MMO, so there will be a monthly fee
2. It's EA, so you can bet it will be released before it's ready and nothing, I mean nothing kills an MMO faster than a game that is not ready.
I've never cared for GTA, but I am interested in this. -

Crap, I thought I was seeing promo vids with observer cameras or something. Looked cinematic. WHY WHY WHY do they keep going 3rd person? 3rd person has always had problems with the camera angle. I don't play them any more, but every time I read a review, the reviewer has to discuss how good/bad the view is, and EVERY one I've ever says they never do it well. They always either say it's horrible or that there are SOME problems at times.
Why do I need to see the back of my avatar's head? Do they maybe think they're dumbing it down by doing that? Jeez, 1st person is the interface I use every day to interact with the world! I have decades of experience with it!

Knowing EA, they are hooked on the idea that people need to see how cool their "avatar" looks. And I have a feeling EA is going to leverage the micro transaction system with this just like they want to do with BF Heroes. It hasn't been said, but I can feel it coming.
For a Shooter, third person is a pain in the ass and that is coming from a person who plays wow third person and drives vehicles in BF third person.
Still, this really looks like a game changer as long as EA doesn't F&#@ it up..... -

#10 I agree on 3rd person of course. They are so... 80'ish, or console'ish. They make me dizzy.
Having said that, I am still hocked on the GTA series. Have spent all my free time trying to beat it the last 3 weeks. Dunno what it is, I hate the rpg of it, hate the angles, etc. But being bad is cool in that game 🙂
