Not sure if this will get lost in this thread, but the other option that is coming is Enemy Territory | Quake wars.
A good (not stellar but very good) demo video is here:
http://www.planetquake4.net/download.php?o...id&lid=2333
Mind you it's 284 MEG but it's the Quakecon demo from the devs on the game and actual game play video.
Interesting points (for those that don't down load)
There will be no stamina. They figure a military person would be able to haul ass for more than 30 seconds at a time
Different levels of sprint (based on what your carrying) As an example they show a sniper with the shoulder mounted weapon draws it in close and runs at X speed, but if you change to a pistol and sling the sniper rifle the run speed is X+2 which in real life would be the same. You run faster with the heavy weapons secured on your body.... Good thinking good programing.
Don't know if I like this one but the way the maps are made is that they have specific zones of capture to keep the flow. Unlike BF2 now where it's flag hopping paradise. All maps on ET|QW are specific zones of capture-control.
EG: You must build the bridge in zone 1 before going thru the tunnel in zone 2 to destroy the shield in zone 3.
You can not destroy the shied in Zone 3 before 1 and 2 are completed. They say it keeps the fighting and game play focused.
Will have to see how others like that style.
There are three distinct fighting modes.
Ground, Air and interior buildings ( EG: COD United Offensive inside buildings combat (Reference minutes 20 - 23 in the demo video)
Interesting vehicle damage (At video time 26 min)
Shows a 8 wheeled troop transport taking wheel damage, the wheels go flat and the vehicle dynamics act accordingly. Lists to the low side, less stable, less speed, turning radius increases.
(At Video time 36 min)
They show the three placeable implements:
Arty - Which is good for killing Humans
Rocket Arty - Which tracks moving targets air and ground vehicles (I like the tracks part.... no more wasted arty shots)
Strategic rocket - For fixed industrial targets and primary objectives.
This is cool because they can be placed (it appears) anywhere on the map. BF2 you know where the UAV, ART ETC is always going to be. Here it is where the engy builds it. They do not say if there is a cap on the amount of emplacements you can make though.
