So, did you get Quake Wars yet?

What do you think about the other maps?

Mine should be in at the end of the week if it doesn't backorder.

Haven't had a chance to get to the store yet. It's possible I could tonight, but I doubt it. Hopefully by the end of the week though...

I picked up mine today. Its installed, and updated. Just wish I didn't have a killer sinus headache to try it out.

A nice bonus, it doesn't need the DVD to load and play the game.

Also another bonus. Don't worry about getting that special user name. Use anything you want. Like UT, it allows you to use any name you want on top of the user acct name, which ties to your CD key.

Looking forward to giving this a good workout Friday. 🤘

Got it.. miniscule download for the Update. Fry's didn't have it.. but surprise surprise Walmart had it and the Limited edition in stock. Will be on later tonight if I find the time.

I managed to grab it tonight on my way to a meeting. Don't have it installed yet but will be up and ready to go by Friday for sure....as long as we don't play "Valley" that is...

Quite a number of new maps.. many different areas/types.

Still have yet to play the covert-ops style objectives/flying drones. Most of the maps seems to play the one side assaulting/one side defending style. Which luckily strogg do have a few assaulting maps. Teamplay when there is useful and devastating, then again when it is lacking frustration can set in.

overall.. decent, I like
maps.. very pretty/playable, can rotate after each round.(three maps per campaign)
repetition.. as existent as any other FPS
speed.. just the right speed
upgrades.. beneficial but not really worrisome, some items such as the Field Ops Scoped rifle are planned for items and you go for them, or the explosive quick-arm, or even the self-arming mines. But life goes on without them.
server.. couldn't find it in the ranked list

Don't mind the number of my TK's.. people like to follow the enemy towards trip-mines and stand in front of Anti-Vehicle-Turrets (AVTs) when they are firing at the MCPs.

Silent, is our server showing up unranked? I need to know if I should open a ticket.

Got mine and am all installed. Good to go for this FnF.

I got the collectors edition (CE). I like the extra crap if I can get it 🙂

The CE came with a desktop map reference. There are 12 total maps. Looks like one map is a duel map in which you start out in normal weather and at some point you go through a time portal and end up in Antarctica. Cool! 🙂

There is a small 1.1 patch already that you can check for but it auto downloads and is a no brainier.

I have not played any maps. I just got everything set up and popped on our 16 player server to see if it was running okay, it is.

I am siked for this. All our previous frustration was lack of game knowledge and lack of other maps to play with. I really think it is a promising game for sure and once we get specialty squads all working on a different objective, it will be great fun.

Didn't have a chance to pick mine up yesterday, but making a point of it today. Tons of Errands to run today before work. ..Pay ISP bill, shuffle money between accounts @ my bank in order to get the entirity of the new computer money in one account before tomorrow. Get Quake wars. and all of this has to eb accomplished in about an hour. If there weren't the commute time, It'd be cake, but every item has about a 15 or so minute drive between them. And when the time hits 1pm regardless I have to begin the commute to work. Needless to say QW is last in the list. not happy about that, but it's truth (and I'm very anxious to play). And past that, given my new comp arrives tomorrow, I probably won't install it till Thursday anyway.

All in all, I will be ready by Friday. So it's all good.


I just noticed it also releases on Steam on 10-9. Makes me wonder if you can activate it on Steam like you could with Prey. the game auto-updates anyway, but If I can activate it on Steam I stop totign the original disk in my Cd wallet. Ever need to reinstall, just reload it on Steam.

I would have bought it on Steam if it wasn't a week out. Probably a deal they had to make with the distributor.

My copy shipped today and should be in Friday.

FYI, I will not be on Friday. We are taking the little one to Sea World and I'll be on the road. I know, bad timing, but it's the only weekend we could go with our work schedules.

And not taking her would be devastating. She's talked about it every morning and every day when I pick her up from Daycare. It should be fun as long as the weather holds up.

I'm just afraid by the time the dust settles, it will be time to move on to TF2 in another couple of weeks, then right into UT3 in Nov, which will take 100% of my gaming time.

Still, I didn't see any sense of buying the collectors edition. Mine had the same map reference book included, and to buy a cutesy metal box didn't seem worth ten more bucks. Does it at least come with the tools to make mods and maps??

Still I appreciated the copy protection NOT needing the CD in the drive, what I'd always liked about steam, and absolutely hated EA for forcing on users.

No it comes with a desktop one as well as the small one. It is lame anyway 🙂

Well that is sad if UT will take 100% of your time. You act like UT is the only game ever written worth playing ever made. You are making me NOT want to play it because of this. If you cannot play more than one game at a time with your "other" friends is truly sad. Just saying....

That's his thing. He has a UT clan, and I'm sure there are big things afoot there. Such is life.

I should have said, 99% of the time for the next 6 months, that better?? I'm just saying I'm 'battlefielded out' and just sick of that kind of play. I recognize that QW and TF aren't exactly the same, but there are many similarities.

Hey, I stood there in the aisle for a loong minute trying to decide. I figure these will be good to fall back on when/if I get sick of UT'ing.

Also, I hope you will join me at least for a few weeks while its new, but thats your choice. You really cannot divide time between too many diff games, it just makes you suck at them all.

This is true, but I'm also in touch with several other groups, plus everyone is sick of 04', BF, and Wow, so I'm expecting it to be as popular as UT04 was. Will be interesting to see how the server traffic compares to the 04' days with QW and TF fresh on the scene too.

But hey, I'm looking forward to Friday nite for now. If I can get a better handle on the game, maybe I'll stick with it longer.

Hopefully Midway doesn't push teh PC version back to 2008 like the PS3 version of UT for you Lexx.

I didn't see it at all Atomm, I will check my filters and try again. It is still named More Cowbell yeah? any spaces? It was on twice as a Demo server the night before last.


Paladin the dual map.. I have played it twice now but neither time has the map made it to the next stage. It is extremely difficult to get through the gate. Constant hassle with extreme city combat.. very intense at times.. to rapid at others.. needs teamwork to succeed. Hopefully we can group up and get'r done.

I saw it listed in my xfire server favs but not in the game. However later silent sent me a friends invitation and it showed up with the friends list.

I also had probs getting it saved to the favorites list, didn't have any probs with the demo version.

Last nite I started getting stuck in a freeze lag at times, but it seemed to clear up an hour later.

No bots, but they are both ranked, they show up in the second page of my listing, however, they are the lowest pings in those 2 pages

Not sure why the bots are not working....

Er Paladin, your right, but I want to focus on just one. All movements are going to be different and a few of my clanmates and some from CI are going to want to do some matching with it, and thats what I've been waiting for. Been caged up with BF too long, gotta get out there and stretch my legs 🙂

However with double jumping, wall jumping, and dodging significantly reduced, it should be easier to drop in QW or TF for a visit, but BF always threw off my timing. Looking forward to having some major fun before going back to not caring about the scores 🙂. Who knows, I'll probably suck at it anyways 😉

Varg, if you like BF2142, you should love QW and TF2. The programming in both are vastly superior.
