I have decided to re-try Castle Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. ... Other than dieing allot, my head swims after about 10 min, and have to quit from the vertigo. Sure hope ET|QW won't do that.....

Navy Field - not exactly fast paced, and a slight learning curve, but if your in to WWII naval combat this game (free) is rally in depth on ship class, types, speeds, armament, weapon effect, damage, distance.
But there is nothing like taking a Frigate and sinking some medium class DD or even living thru a map with out sinking.

I've only been playing a week so I have very limited skill, and ship size armor/fire power so it can be an exercise in futility some maps... but I am getting better every map.

Anyone else playing anything other than 2142 demo? (<<<< REFUSE to play)

Not really. Been thinking about playing some more Civ 4, but really haven't had the time.

Tried some more BF2 IO last night and had a good time. Got taken out by grenades an awful lot, but only sniped a few times so all was well. 😄

Hoping for a BF2 (or two or three) mod to come out sometime pretty soon.

That naval sim sounds interesting - I may check it out.

Of course I'm always up for a game of Counter-Strike. I have been thinking about playing Source more. For me CS is less involved than BF2. So, alot of times I play CS rather than BF2 because it requires less thought for me. Follow the bomb, protect the hosties... that's all you have to do. And the rounds are shorter, so you can come and go much easier.

I'd be glad to game with any of you that want to try something diff for a night or two. However, I would not be the best teacher. I can hold my own in 1.6, but Source is a diff game. I haven't played it a whole lot, so I basically get owned for while.

But that and BF2 are all I have time for right now. 😀

    Navy Field is like that
Quick games, if you die you can leave the match whit the points you have or stay in the game (dead) and as your team makes more kills you get bonus points. If they win you get more bonus points.

More points = more options = better ships/guns/equipment.

Played the original CS. Played the original Day of Defeat a lot.

Will/can play those, or the Source: updates.

I've been longing for something other than a FPS. I bought Neverwinter Nights a while back, but it's DVD only and my laptop had the DVD and a fried hard drive. 🙁

I play Magic Online once in a while.

I've played Wolfenstein ET and I like it, but it makes my head swim too... 🙁 Yea, I hope QW: ET doesn't do that....

Lately my game of secondary play has been Flatout 2. If you haven't played it, or the original, Flatout 2 is $30 and it kicks ass. Racing is the genre, btw... demolition derby racing.

But I've had a few other diversions lately as well, as I located my old PC copies of the Mega Man X series games (yes, not emulated Roms. The actual PC releases, which makes me an uber-nerd). Flatout tactics has also been a diversion as of late... though I've hacked the single player mode to all hell... And the same with KOTOR.

Tried the NavyField game last night for a bit. Made it through the training rounds and it was kinda fun. I need to practice my aiming more and then find a battle with some other noobs. I joined one battle that was active and it was like all Battleships and me in a Frigate 😮 I bailed quickly 🙂

Go to area 7 (if you were not there) and look for the DD only or DD and FF only. (5v5 or 7v7)
Try to stay away from the ALL games. There is where you find the BB and the CV's

But on the flip side if you do go play an "ALL" game - charge the largest ship you can find. The larger/stronger ships you get hits on the more experience and cash you get before you die. Which can help.

Also if you have the time, when you die, stay in game you get "bonus points" even though your dead you get points for all the hits your team makes on the enemy. And should your team win the map you get more points if you stay for the whole thing dead or not.

Friday night I'll be online, there are some things about your crew that are unclear in the users manual I can show you.
    Makes them more efficient.

I have a medium sized destroyer right now. My crew levels are in the 12 range. Need to start working on manual fire control and get rid of my auto range and elevation. You get better range and damage when you have manual control over your guns.

    Games growing on me fast.

I played it a little. Got to the dummy ships and chased them around a little and had to go back to work. But I like the idea of earning the credits and upgrading.

Do I spy a |GRB| fast action group on the horizon????!!!!

Played earlier today on a DD 7V7 and all 7 of us hung in a tight group every round.... worked wonders.
PS. once game starts push F2 to change comms from ALL to TEAM text will change from YELLOW to TAN

Still spending more time in conqueronline than real life 😄 Did actually dust off the wheel and ps2 for some GT4 last weekend, I forgot how much I love that game. I haven't done any reading on GT5 in a looooong time - anyone know if it is supposed to still be a release title with the PS3, an if its still supposedly online?

I'm trying to find games that my wife enjoys playing. She's into Rise of nations and emipre earth and I get tired of them real quick anyone got any suggestions?

I've tried to get her into FPS, but she's not quite ready for it yet.

Hell I have hundreds of actual arcade ROMS that I run with M.A.M.E. I do this on the PC as well as my Palm PDA. 😉

I have plans to build a stand alone Arcade machine with a PC in it to run all of these on. I also have a triangle controller board in mind that can be changed(turned) for the various games.

Maybe someday I will actually build it 😉

I am into all kinds of weird tech stuff...

See, you are not alone. 😉

One of my very good friends was gonna build a stand alone M.A.M.E. he got the pc loaded with over 300 games, got an old school control board and then got distract4ed building a weatherstation instead???

I'm oddly attracted to find you freaks 😛 lol

ok; really - its just I'm just not smart enought to be cool like that 🙁

    LOL!

About 4 years ago, I worked for an ISP. We were given a few months notice that the customers were being sold to Earthlink. Once that happened, all hell broke loose. One of my buddies decided it was a good time to use that hella bandwidth, so he spent a few days collecting every single MAME game. I have a bunch of CD's with them in alphabetic order. I think it was 10 CD's after it was all said and done.

I really wanted to make a free standing arcade for them, but never got around to it.

I had segmented my drive off and ended up with abour 25gigs of old games from 80-90s.. and then another good amount of MAME/roms for the various emulators. Then the tick snuck up and took them all away. Bastard..

Nowadays my time was most recently held by the game Bully.. Rockstar and their quality console entertainment.. at least this one was hilarious rather than brutal. Touched on WoW, but I have a feeling that beast is going to go the way of all the other games that have been made to easy and am already toying with the idea of removing it from the drive. Then a bit of Oblivion, which was pleasant but a little to .. too Elder Scrolls. Have Civ4 but I believe MOO3 almost beat it; neither one hold a candle to Civ1 or Civ2 though.. just something nice about the non-sequel aspects of the originals.. COD1 and 2.. short but fun.

Now for GT4.. nice beautiful just a little too realistic for my games, not forgiving at all... now take a good game like Burnout and you can't miss.. and they just keep geting better with each release.. Burnout 3 and Revenge are my favs right now.. and are great crowd pleasers.. nothing like the sight of a good crash and the crunch of metal and plastic mixed with a good tingle of glass all because you drove into oncoming traffic and someone tried to follow..

    Stormreach

Anyone tried this? I downloaded the 10 free demo and played for a little bit. I'm lost, but still trying to figure it out.

I downloaded it, but never got a chance to install and play. It sounds interesting, but I'm not sure I have time for another addiction.... ;-)

I have been trying to ween myself from time-consuming pay-2-play MMORPGs.. unless they are free or have an option to play free.. I got burnt out on FFXI and now that I dont have the time to run around for an hour just to start a fight... I like something with a bit more speed, like CoH or some low graphics diddy like Runescape.

Though depending on tonight BF2 might make the list of time consumers.
