Here is the Map list in chronological order as best as I could arrange it. This list includes all official BF 1942 maps including expansions, all maps from .65 of FH, and a few choice select custom maps, what I would consider some of the best out there, especially in respect to historical background, and/or custom content. Maps in Italics show an "estimate" as to the placement of that map in the timeline as it may relate to an event that happened on that date, and/or it shares many similiarities as well. I've also added to some of the "estimate" maps as to what they could be, if the creator would like to add a touch of realism in that sense if it wasn't what the creator had in mind already. I'd also like to suggest, if it hasn't been mentioned already a few key events for those who do make the maps. Leyte Gulf, a new Gazala (Operation Venezia) or (Cauldron) a FH version of the Maginot Line [Maybe even add some of the crappy Italian tanks) Operation Red (the Battle of France), Cherbourg (Operation Cobra) Ruhr Pocket, Malta, Russian Summer Offensive(Operation Bagration), Manila, Marshall Islands That's all for now...Enjoy..

Thanks for all of this info. Good playing with you last night although you did kill me a few too many times for my taste...

heh Yep had lots of fun.. you should see the effect of frustration I have when I'm in my beloved Tiger in Forgotten Hope 8) Had a blast on Caen, Peleliu, and Torch though was a little rusty playing Reg.. I gotta get this new mouse tuned..ran into too many hills 😛 Look forward to the next gathering. Good Games all..

Just finished re-reading Goodbye Darkness, William Manchester's memoir of fighting as a Marine in the Pacific. This has piqued my interest in the Pacific Theatre maps and can't wait for FH to come out with their fix for the Pacific maps.

Speaking of FH, has anyone seen any guides on tanking in that mod? I am an erratic tanker in that one, and have to generally bracket my target before I can score any hits. Also where are the best places to hit the armor?

I don't have FH, but if you import the highres collision mesh into max, you can see exactly where the weakest points are. I can give screenshots of the hotspots should somebody upload the .sm file for any particular vehicle.

That would be cool. Let me see what I can find. Would hate to do it for all the vehicles as their are a lot of them, but a couple might be illustrative of the overall damage scheme.

    Everclear's Tank tip #3

    Standard weakpoints..

The Sides.. namely the treads take major damage.. As well with the front if you can aim for the treads.. though the hitbox is smaller.. Turret is usually always the heaviest armored.. Rear depending on tank firing is usually 1 shot kill.. Unless your in a Standard Sherman shooting the rear of a Tiger for example.. There is also a minor degree of a shotrap as well that is in a small section around the turret ring.. very hard to hit.. let alone aim for.. and usually for the most part ends up being a lucky shot when hit... So when your chuggin along in a Tiger.. and a Firefly disables you off their first shot at you to the front.. that is what happened to your tank.. I believe in FH they also took into account distance.. i.e. Long distance shots do less damage then close range fire (due to a drop in the initial velocity)

    Everclear's Tank tip # 14

    The Sucker Punch..

Something to remember however when ambushing from long distance is this... shoot when they arent looking.. in otherwords.. 1st shot may hit/glance the enemy and alert them to your presence causing them to look for you.. tempting to fire a 2nd time.. but.. wait.. be patient.. take your time and watch to see if they spot you right off the bat.. or if their turret is still looking.. in which case.. finish them off when you notice their turret isn't pointed in your direction.. this will allow you to retain your ambush point for the next victim.. if not the same person you just killed (which often times happens)

Good tips Everclear. Didn't notice you were on that server that I joined late last night until you said something, in the chat. Actually had better luck with the Artillery and AA than anything else, especially armor. Also played some BG42 last night and do much better with armor in that one, I think because I can react more quickly as the armor is faster in general and has quicker turrets.

I seen they changed a lot of stuff up, and fixed some things. I'll have to download it next week and check it out. See if I can run it for more than 30 minutes without a crash to desktop. I had lots of problems with the prior version. But then again I may just need to refresh my machine.

cool. Maybe we will see you on the FH battlefield then sometime. Definately seem to have tweaked a lot of things. The "Forgotten Hope School" page that I linked to in the news article was helpful as well. Didn't realize that there are some flags that you simply cannot cap without help from teammates for one thing.

Sarge, from my reading, that looks like something they have added in the new version. I don't think it was there before. I do think it's a good move and will change the game play. Whether it is a good thing or not is still to be seen.

I am downloading it now. I also found a site with a complete linux server version. I'm getting it now. We can run it when ever.

Yep 0.66 so far from what I've seen is much improved... the feature of requiring more then one person at some flags though has been in the game though for at least the last few versions. On Charlie Sector for Example, the 3rd Flag and 4th Flags required at least 2 people as shown by the sign on the flag pole.. On Operation Nordwind the Allied Base flags required 2 for the Forward Flag..and 3 for the Rear.. This is to encourage more then one person in the capture process of a flag.. however.. if you put a spin on it.. this can also be a useful handicap.. for instance.. you know you may be unable to capture a flag since reinforcements are slow in coming.. you can disable a main spawn point and force the enemy to draw more of its forces back to recapture the point.. since it only takes one person to turn it grey and kill the spawn factor.. allowing your team a greater chance of a breakthrough..and a breakdown in the enemies defense.. I'll try to add the new maps into the list here as soon as I get a chance.. Been busy wit hfamily stuff so haven't had a chance to play much.. good games though the other night Sarge & Hymen..

Defninately good to play on the same team as you. Noticed you were pretty lethal in that Tiger (pretty sure that was what I saw you running) on that map we played the other night (Varilisk?). I was getting pwned pretty well but was having a blast playing as a destroyer of tanks. Took out many that night, although a couple of TK's and lot's and lot's of Russian infantry with the PPsH made me pay the price many times over 🙂
