The second link is an account from a WoW addict. It's interesting, makes me think of the half a clan we lost to WoW-crack. Wonder if they are all still in WoW, have some of them quit vowing to never game again? Are other types of games addicting? I find Battlefield somewhat of an addiction (one I can stop at any time) but certainly nothing on the order of what I see for WoW.
I read that second article. At least, most of it. Yea, it felt just like the guys who ran away and joined the wowgan train.....
I'll tell you something about wow being addictive.... I played it for a few months, then went cold turkey last year. I started playing again at the end of the year until around February, then went cold turkey and turned off my account.
Here's the crazy part. I miss it. There is not a week that goes by that I don't think man, I wish I had time to play wow. It is a very addicting game and it can ruin your life. I know that and still I want to play, but I don't because I know it would consume me. It really does feel like AA or Drug Rehab.....
I actually had a friend buy me WOW and a three month gift card to keep playing. I thought it was ok but not my type of gaming. It was way to slow and would have to spend way to long to get anywhere. The game was just to damn slow in my opinion. Now as far as being addicted to a game I would have to say I am addicted to CS. I have been playing since beta and have 9 seasons of CAL under my belt. I love to compete and I love the pace of the game not to mention the social side. I have made so many friends through CS. For example I met Johnywalker through CS and he help me and my family move from NY to FL and let us stay in his home for a few months until we were able to find a place. I like BF2 but am not addicted to it. I enjoy the game play but I guess its not social enough. When I can get in the and the rest of u are playing I have a blast. I dont jump from server to to server to play BF2, for me I have fun playing with people I know. Since you guys only seem to get on together for FNF I end up missing all the fun. My wife works nights and she has had the past several Friday nights off. She will be working the next several weekends in a row after this weekend, so watch out because there will be another target on the battlefield.
i will try TF2. the graphics i think will be quite different. My husband orginally started trying to get me to play TF, but I liked CS better. I will try it out though.
I played some team fortress awhile back. Tribes as well. I honestly cannot remember them 100% but will try the new one. Will the new one have vehicles?
One reason I really really love the BF series is all the cool things you get to do. Jump in jeeps and helo's is just so damn cool. If a game does not support that, I personally will not like it as much. Sorry CS is not my game either. I die too fast and hate just sitting there until the end of the round 😉 It is because I suck 😉
DocJon and I used to play counter strike a lot and that was not bad. We played mostly against bots though.
I am willing to try most any game as long as it has a First Person view.

You should try Onslaught, Vehicle CTF, or Assault sometime. They are original (ie, no cheap ripoff, cough), have cool vehicles, play well, no spyware or advertising either 😉

To be honest though, their vehicles are so so... it just is not as fun for some reason. Everything in UT seems cartoon-ish to me. it is fun for awhile but not inversive.
hmmm, that is some interesting reading... 🙂 WoW is what you make it, it is just like any other game out there that people throw themselves in. Before wow I was playing UT2k3, Q3, BFV, BF1942 and CoD. (sorry I have always hated BF2, so I left it out... ) Was I putting as much time in those games as I do WoW now? Not really but it isn't far off.
One thing I can say about WoW is that, it is the only game that my better half has ever really wanted to play!!! That is an amazing thing when the person that normally bitches about the time you spend on the computer actually wants to play and do the same things you are doing, it actually makes life way easier for a gamer... 🙂
As you most know by now I am still playing WoW as well as KoNeo, Ephil, and Blueguy. We are pretty much on our 4th server; however, with the ability to move characters I finally have all my 60's on one server... it is SO nice. I avg about 5 hours a night give or take with a total of about 25-30/wk of game play. Have not really let much slide on normal activities other than needing to paint the house and even if I wasn't a gamer I doubt I would be jumping at getting that one done. 🙂

With what seems to be the technical savvy you all should just popup your own private server, then you would have no problems with anything, hell they got servers now that run the entire game newest version with no extra/cracked modules.. Though how well these serbers play in comparison to the pay2play one.. well I have never played the pay and only played the regular for about.. -checks watch- 10 mins.. hah.
But from reviews and small experience it is not too far off from the real thing, dont see any super glitchiness.. or crap of the crack/hack/cheat nature.
