Xbox has done it again

So for those who live with thier heads in the sand...

Xbox has teamed up with Big ass games and is offering Settlers of Catan for Live arcade.

Lemme tell you I was so excited I went out and downloaded it first thing. It's totally worth it. It is exactly like the board game without all the hassle. Has a great friend invite system, has a nice ranking and matching system.

360 or regular?

360. I dont think the old xbox can access the xbox live marketplace.

Settlers of Catan is a great little german game where you play on a small Hexagonal grid, where each grid represents a different land source as well as a different number. Players place towns/cities at the intersections when they have gathered enough resources. Resources are gathered through rolling the dice and having a town/city next to the numbered resource that was rolled. The creator has a number of simple fun games like this.

There is a bit of strategy and resource management involved.. plusd the standard you give me this for that trading.. its a bit of fun. I would recommend picking up the traveller's edition of the game for some nice easy two-player+ fun and the larger boardgame for large groups as well as the expansion packs for a greater number of people.


Its kinda a playable Civilization board game. Quick and easy setup fairly fast paced luck/skill driven game.


If you like the type I would suggest it for a go or two its fun. Seafarers/Settlers of Catan, Candamir and the Munchkin series of games are good little fun things that me and the Wife play when we can.

Its probably the best of the nonparkerbrotherian board games. The expansions add alot to the game and its very enjoyable on its own.
