I read pros and cons of using the Catalyst software suite, while others say it's bloat ware.
Anyone have any ideas yah or nay for the Catalyst suite?

I have never owned an ATI chip set card, always Diamond then on to Nvidia...... not sure what to expect.

ATI also offers the full Catalyst software package as a download or just the drivers for the card with out all the extras.
I'm leaning towards just the driver, it looks like the full package has a bunch of stuff that I won't need or use, DVD driver software, TV Tuner software (the new card has no tuner) and other t hings I wont use like color correction, ATI overdrive (not in to over clocking)

    Thoughts?

I ran almost exclusively ATI until my purchase of the nVidia 8800GT.
I've used the Catalyst drivers as well as the full software. I didn't use hardly any of the features in the full software. Near the end I was only using Cat drivers.
In conclusion: Just use the driver. 🙂

    Just use the drivers.

I believe I always just used the drivers. I'm not one for fancy bloatware myself. I figured if the drivers work, I can tweak most everything I need in-game individually.

ATI used to make the best cipsets and drivers. then the drivers became bloatware and the chipsets became slow. I switched to nvidia.

its a shame because I was a big fan of ATI.

New PS installed, needed a shoe horn and Vaseline but it's in.
New Video card installed and working, just installed video driver not bloat ware.

    So far so good.
