I'd seen something along those lines before but haven't tried to open a battery up to see what was inside.

A23? I'm not sure I've ever seen one of those.

You guys are lucky. There are way too many button batteries. Unfortunately, it seems like there are 2 or 3 for every general size. Someone should go through them and set a standard. "OK, these three batteries are all about the same size, we'll call THIS ONE the standard. From now on, all new products manufactured that would've used one of these three batteries will be made to use only the one we picked." It gets especially bad when you're finding a battery to work in a hearing aid.
