Chipset & Graphics Drivers?

Ok I should have the final parts for my machine by Tuesday of next week, Just ordered the Graphics Card at long last so it should be together middle of next week..

My question is I want to do as clean an install as I can and came across this handy step-by-step guide on the Corsair webstie that does a great job of showing what it is I'll need to do, even using the same motherboard (ASUS SLi Premium) and the same Memory (Corsair PC3500LLPRO) Something I've never done before however was flashing the BIOS. Something that is recommended for this particular board especially on a clean install. My question is on the Nvidia website where is it do I go to fidn the correct chipset and graphics driviers for this board & card. I'm slightly confused by all the Nforce options given when I checked the download drivers section. I know whatever drivers I get they should be the WHQL ones. Anyone got a clue where it is I need to go for these?

if these are for your motherboard, I would check ASUS first. I've never flashed my video before. but then again I go through video cards faster than bubba's brothel.

Definitely start with the ASUS site for flashing the Motherboard BIOS. If you go to their support section, put in your mobo model, it should show you the latest BIOS. The manual for the mobo should lead you through how to do the update.

Always, Always make a Floppy backup of your BIOS before doing this. I can't stress this enough....

Which method is best for Flashing the BIOS.. Creating a Diskette and doing it.. or using the ASUS Live Update utility?

Problem with the website is the latest BIOS version is 1011 (beta) with the newest non-beta version being 1009.. according to the website when I put in the type of board and processor I will be using it tells me I'll need to flash the system if it's lower then 1010.. but.. there is no 1010 to download.. and I dont want a beta BIOS..

Perhaps they will rename the beta 1010 when thier sure it won't kill motherboards. If you have a dualbios, probably won't hurt to try the beta. Otherwise, I'd not even do it *unless* you've had any problems with what you already have.

I do know from experience after doing a fresh install, and later flashing the bios, your asking for problems with your windows install.

If the board has Duel BIOS then flash it. I agree with Atomm to backup the current one if you have that option. In the very least see if you can DL the same version of your BIOS that ships with from the web site.

I personally do not upgrade my BIOS’s unless I have a reason to.

If you need to I usually recommend doing if from DOS but it seems the windows flashers are a lot better these days. If you starting from scratch then you have no real worries. The absolute worse that could happen if you do not have a duel BIOS is you will need to send the MB back but I seriously doubt that will happen. If you do have a DUEL BIOS then you can play with no real worries.

Yep this is a complete fresh build.. that is why I want to take advantage of as many update chances I can from the ground up.. Not sure if it has Duel BIOS.. I'll check into that.. anything you do differently with a board that is?
