Cool Gas Alternative

This looks really cool. They claim they can make ethanol for about $1 a gallon and the real kicker is the process is somewhat environmentally friendly, producing 84% less green house gases than traditional fuel production.

Here is the real kicker, it produces 7.7 times the energy output than corn based ethanol, which produces 1.3. In other words, for every 1 unit of energy put into making the fuel, corn ethonal production only yields .3 more energy than it took to make it, while this method will return 6.7 more energy than it took to produce it. That is a huge jump in effeciency. Something we really need to make this worthwhile.

Wow! That is certainly a big breakthrough. I hope that they can deliver. I wonder if eventually they could shrink the machinery enough for everyone to have a mini ethanol plant at home. If two bales of hay produces 5 gallons of ethanol, then my lawn clippings each week would pretty much cover my day-to-day gas needs during the spring and summer....

I never thought about that.... Cool idea....

There is whole landfill thing too. Take the garbage and recycle it into ethanol. Two birds.....
