since my hd went for a shit, i have been lagging badly, even in single player, ive brought down my video, and sound settings, and still no go, as duck can attest to, im no whizz on pc issues, but all the info i can get will be usefull

k, good point bubba, heeeeeres my specs-amd athalon xp 2800+, 512 mb pc-3200, ddr ram. radeon 9200, 128 mb.
win xp. 2 80 gb raid array hd......my internet is not cable, however, its high speed, had minnimal lag before THE GIRLFRIEND f###ed it up with porn, now i cant even play single player, my ping seems fine when in multi player, and have not got a warning in PB, it does not seem to be happening in other applications...however, i play bf1942, and surf, but thats it....i realize, i do have to upgrade my vid card, but i didnt have a problem before it was f###ed with....anything come to mind ???......should i just start from scratch ???....my beloved winmx(which has no affiliation with this site, nor endorses any sort of this type of behavior) is gone anyways ??

I noticed you have a raid system. Is it mirrored or striped? I have a mirrored raid and one of the drives messed up. It was still running, but it would take an hour to move 5 megs from one drive to the other. It was so bad, I was lagging out all the time in 42. Once I figured out it was the drive and removed it, things went back to normal.

Here is the bad part. If it is your drive and if you stripped, then you are SOL. You will probably have no choice but to start over and pull the drive. If you mirrored, then you should be ok, but you need to get the bad drive off the mirror before it starts corrupting data on the good drive.

Spyware is nasty stuff. It will completely kill a computer.

I am with Atomm, I hung up as soon as I saw Raid. Of course starting new will always help, I tend to format and reinstall every few months. Yours specs are certainly good enough. Also are you sure you have gotten all the spyware?? I tend to recommend that you use spybot and adaware, also make sure you update them and run them while in safe mode. Keep us updated and I am sure we can get it eventually

to tell you the truth atomm...i dont have a clue, it may be mirrored, or it may be stripped, i have no way of knowing...other than taking it back to the shop again, and saying, FIX IT DAMMIT, thatll mean another week or two without internet......funny thing, when i got pc back, my favourites were the same, and most of the settings=including 1942, however, most of my programs were gone....would they have done a half assed job????, and why ????
