As you all know, I am in desperate need of a Video Card to run BF2. So I go into my computer room the other day and turn on my desktop. Nothing.... Hmmm... After troubleshooting, it appears my motherboard died.
Ok, well I can RMA the sucker, but I really need this system back up and running asap. So, if I am going to buy a mobo, I might as well see if I can get a PCI Express mobo for my Intel P4 socket 478. I was just about to give up when I ran across a review of an Albatros 478 board with PCI Express. Woohoo!!!!
I am going to kep all of my other hardware and add a PCI Express video card. I added a Gigabyte 6600GT PCI Express card.
I got both for a nice little upgrade and it only cost me $254. I don't think that's too bad. It would have been $750 to get a whole new system just to have PCI Express. Now if I can only get that 2nd Gigabyte of memory, BF2 might actually run well on this system. ;-)
Oh yea, the Video card comes with Joint Operations. Never had the urge to try it, but since it's free, what the heck. :-)
