    I like the Apple III solution to chips popping out of their socket... "Pick the machine up a few inches and drop it on a hard surface". They never should have let Woz cease to be involved

    There were rumors of a new speedbump in the Commodore parking lot causing chips to be unseated in some of the Amigas 🙂

    GREAT article. I LIKED the TI-99/4A though. Cool computer for it's time. I learned on Apple 2's and TI's. I preferred the Apples, but there were more TI's, so I used it more. I used to go to the store and stare at the TI's, wishing we could afford one. A year or so later, my friend VIC came along, and then after that, the C-64.

    Also, the TI had an 'expansion box' available to put all that sidecar stuff in, if you wanted. It sat above and behind the TI itself. I eventually owned a decked-out TI, with lots of educational stuff that I could never get my girlfriend's boy to use.

    ETA: I also loved the Apple 2 GS when it came out, but the Amiga was out around the same time. No contest 😀

    The TI with all the expansion ports was amazing. I never knew it did that.

    I remember learning on the TRS-80 in Elementary. I would go to the library during lunch and after school, load the tape and play some silly educational bunny game.

    There was a huge BBS at OU running on a TRS-80 that lasted well into the internet age.


    Read the June 01 archive. Man, that's cool that someone had games that were never released for the TI99.
