Wth, I thought I'd post a small problem I've come across.

I bought a 'pre-black Friday' large screen LCD TV from Newegg a couple of days ago. This TV has a couple of HDMI inputs as well as a VGA. 8ms 1950x1024 rez.

Now I can run the VGA and stereo from my multimedia, which in turn also allows me to clone a 22" LCD monitor on the other side of the wall, but I've been told HDMI is a better and faster display option. However I'm not sure of how you would handle the 5.1 audio within that cable.

I found one video card that has both HDMI/5.1 but I'll be danged if I can understand how it works, or if this would even be worth the trouble.

Ultimately I'm just looking to make it idiot proof for the wife and kids. One button on the remote and they are good to go. Otherwise, I think I may end up getting a Logitec remote where I could program the various functions, turn on the surround sound, etc.

I don't think that will work with XP. Just keep that in mind. HDMI requires built in DRM, so it's Vista only.

I don't know about the sound, but it's amazing what a driver will do. I'd almost run the sound separately.

Oh and I love my Logitech 880. Works like a champ!

Don't forget, using the Newegg link on the Main site gives a 1-2% kickback to here. I've already used it to give away a few copies of games in the past.

Erk, sorry Atomm, I know about the weblink, used it a couple of times. I got in late one night and saw the one day sale and spent the rest of the night researching it. There wasn't even time to make any posts about it. Basically, I was going to buy one at BestBuy for $800 and this one cost $550 with shipping. 42" noname, but its crystal clear. I can actually see the internet on the screen across the livingroom now.

The 880? Is that the one that costs 90 or the one that costs 280? I setup one of each for two installs last week. Kinda goofy you have to setup over the internet tho.

Ok, guess I'll stick with VGA, plus it has a VGA Audio feed on the TV anyways. I guess I can 'Y' that into the stereo/surround system, and just pickup a blueray player later.

Nice find Sarge, Thanks! I ordered it just now. Plus some cables as you proceed to checkout. Damn they have it like the candy counter in the supermarket 🙂

Yah, thats the one I programmed Friday. It also came with a RF box for inside the cabinet, so that must be what pushed up the price.

I think I'm electronized up for this year ;p No wait, kids, Christmas, check. lol.

Lexx, I think the 880 is IR only and the 890 is RF. It's almost identical except for that.

I love mine. Especially how I pick the models and it will program everything right up.
